A Tisket a Tasket Greens are in the Basket!

A week ago I went with my sister, Jeanne to a few shops that sale furniture.  She was looking for a new cabinet for her living room.
When we walked through one designer shop I noticed that on a lot of their coffee tables they were placing metal containers and baskets.  They filled them with all kinds of fun items.
Some of them were really cool and looked vintage.  I thought to myself, ‘I Can do that”.
Remember this basket that I had in my laundry room?

Well, now it looks like this.

For now, I didn’t place it on my table; but decided to leave it in the window.  This way the plants can receive some natural light.

I’ve been anticipating what else might be fun to display in my vintage basket.  Which by the way, I bought at a small town antique shop that had once been a grocery store.  He said that it was an original shopping basket.  I paid $20 for it. I didn’t think that was bad.
Imagine all of the groceries it’s seen in it’s day.
I found a ‘RED’ treasure at an estate sale Friday.  Thinkin  it might look cute for Valentines in my vintage basket.
I’ll try it out Tuesday.  Just in time for Rednesday.
Till then, A Tisket A Tasket, hope you find a fun basket!

Oh that is cool! I even have one of those kinds of baskets that is a bit more decorative...I should stack my little books that are on the edge of one of my living room tables! I like keeping things in the same spot for the little grandbabies growing up...it teaches them to know if we keep putting it there it will always be there...the basket will make it easier to go through them ! Very cool idea, thanks!

Love your wire basket, Jann. I think it looks great on your kitchen counter. It's so fun to be creative and change things up. I've always loved doing that, ever since I was little. Unfortunately, my new house is pretty small and I can't move my living room furniture around. Oh well. Accessories and kitsch are easy to change out. Have a great week!

What a beautiful living basket you have made!! I'd love to try to make something like that for my table. (And then I have to remember to water them!)

Hi Jan...

I am so happy that you found me over at 21 Rosemary Lane...now I know you! Great blog and aren't sisters the best shopping partners? My sister and I laugh our heads off every time we shop together!

Great vintage basket btw. And I like the way you think about all the groceries that basket has seen...boy if it only could talk! I think that way about vintage cars...all the places they might have been!

So I am following you you now and wishing you a very happy new year!

I have an old A&P shopping cart..the basket on top of it is very similar to yours!..It detaches so that you can just use the basket or place it on the cart to roll..The antique dealer that I purchased it from said that it was A&P because of the green paint that was still remaining on it...

You can see it on the Grits and Glamour post of the Wild About Mother Nature..I am the first posting...

Love the way you used the basket...
