Hi my friends, I wanted to share with you my newly found vintage planters.
A few weeks ago my SIL and I went to pick up a set of twin tubs from my friend, Dolly’s Aunt Bunny. You may remember that I scored treasures from her yard sale at the quilting retreat.
I spied a couple of rusty white metal planters in her yard. For me, it was instant love. Not sure how they felt about me.
Aunt Bunny sold them to me for $20 each.
The first one was a tall narrow planter with cute scroll work.
It’s newly planted, but when the plants fill in and trail I think it will be so cute.
Look at this darling circular one. I haven’t done anything with it yet. Just sat it out by my rose garden. Can’t decide if I want to plant sedums in the bowls or four cute pots. What do you think?
Now some of you may be thinking, “Aren’t you going to paint it?”. Nope, I love them both just they way they are!
Recently I was at a shop in Draper, UT. Outside there were a couple of vintage planters similar to mine (not quite as cute of course) lol! she wanted over $100 for each one. Wow, I had no idea.
How about you? Do you like things rusty, or would you paint it?
p.s. I noticed that I now have 500 followers. Yahoo! It’s time to celebrate. I will be announcing a give away later this week. Thanks so much to all of you!!!
Hugs,
Jann

Jann...I wish I could remember, but someone just posted a plant stand similar to your last one, and they had it in the house with white pitchers on it....It was oober cute!!
Hmmm I think I would want to paint them, maybe even a kooky color :) xo
Oh, I so found it....http://chateau-chic.blogspot.com/...June 3rd! Wow, can't believe I did that...just wanted you to see it!
Those are both great finds! That circular one if very different & charming too.
I still see the round one in many yards around here. Shall I snatch one for you so you have a set?
~Bliss~
Your planters are gorgeous! I am like you, I like the rusty look. I would not paint them.
I LOVE, Love your metal planters. They are just perfect in their state of rustiness!

I see those are shops and never have brought one home, you're inspiring me to pick up one.
I love the planters - but I love the circular one most! And in this case, I don't think I would paint them but would leave them natural. Wonderful!
I swooned over your planters, especially the first one! Anything with that rusty 'crusty' look gets me every time!

Ooooh, I love those vintage planters you found.
Jann,
I LOVE your planters! I *esp* covet that tall one....as for the cirular one, could be an excellent pillar candle holder, too! such choices, what delights!
Nice treasures you found there, ma'am!
Oh I so love them especially the round one,and I too love rust. xx
OH I LOVE those "Rusties"!!! I would leave them just like that. Let's call it PATINA.
I can never pass up an old planter or garden item. Rust gives it lots of character.
Thank you for sharing.
Have a fun week,
Big Hugs,
Donna
Ohhhhh! Lovin' that tall scrolly one! Perfect for a porch or deck! You got a great deal on them, too!
Blessings!
Beautiful planters, Jann! Love that long one. I'm sure it will look even better once your plants take off. The other is really interesting. You could probably go a lot of different ways planting that one.
I like the scroll work on the planter. As for the rusty one I would live with it for a bit before deciding.
Great finds Jann! Perfect just the way they are.
What lovely vintage planters! I can see why you fell in love with them. It's hard to say but I'm a painter person so I would probably paint them :)
What finds! I'd leave the rust, too, but spray it with clear enamel. It makes it "pop". I did craft shows for years, and this was my little secret. Now, I'm sharing with you!
What lovely rusty goodness!!! Leave the rust, it looks fabulous!
No paint, the rust adds character!
I love the vintage planters...and I wouldn't do a thing to them! They worked hard over the years to get that charm and I would let them keep it. They are lovely. I also want to comment on your blog header...I think the cherry decor is so cute! Love the colors!
I love them..rust and all!
Love them both... Great find...Congrats on your 500followers!
Great finds and I would leave them rusty until you want a change. I like the old stuff as is and I always like to "live" with something for awhile before I go changing it.
How charming these are--the pieces have so much character, you could probably leave them shabby chic rusty or paint them as your mood changes. I like them both very much!
I like to paint and try to cover the rust. I want to have the piece last as long as possible and the rust will continue if not nipped. Cute new plant holders!
I love love those planters and I'd have snatched them up too! I found you via a blog hop and am now a new follower! :)
Wow, Jann. You have some great new treasures. To paint or not to paint? It depends on my mood sometimes. I'm still attracted to the chippy stuff, even if it doesn't come home with me. I call it, "The Lust for Rust."
Wonderful finds! I would leave them as is too. Thanks for linking up to the All Star Block Party!

Hi Jann - thanks for linking up these treasures on the All Star Block Party.
I love them just the way they are too!!
Hi Jann - thanks for linking up these treasures on the All Star Block Party.
I love them just the way they are too!!
The new finds are both wonderful! The one with the flower bowls made me think of a unique candle holder! Perhaps some reindeer moss as filler at the base! It would also be cute with a sedum that would drape over the edge. It's really a cute piece but I'd have a hard time not painting it! I'd want to preserve it to last longer. That's why I don't own antiques...I want to make them look new again! :-) I know- I know, shudder the thought!
Love the planters! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
I think some things look better rusty. It gives them character. :)
Stopping by from the All Star Block Party.
Definitely no paint of those beauties! I really, really like the one with the 4 bowl-like thinks. I'm kinda thinking sedums would be fun, but maybe it's just because I've been wanting to make one for a while. Anyway, you've got a terrific collection there and congrats on reaching the 500 mark!
Jann,
I think for out in the garden, the rusted chippy version is perfect!!
If you were going to use them indoors, then I would probably paint them. In my latest post, you will never guess what Joe picked up for me???
A faux paint kit to make items look rusted!! LOL!!
Hugs,
Deb
No paint for me. Love them rusty and rustic! Thanks for showing us what you got. Love to see other people's treasures.

Those planters are so lovely. Great finds.
Oh wow, so gorgeous! Love that rust! :)
These are my favorite types of planters. Happy VTT
Just the right amount of rust lends itself to all the charm in the world. Your galvanized vignette is so summery! A few little squashes will take her righti nto fall when ready. Love that little box planter.
Cute stuff! I guess I'm an anti-rust gal! Either way they look great and I'm sure you will enjoy them!
I really love this planter and vignette! :D LOVE this post!
Love the planter !

Love your planter and plant stand, so much fun! Can't wait to see what you plant/put in the stand.
Happy VTT!
You did a great job on the use of those old planters. I like them.
I love a great buy! And your planters are perfect just the way they are.
The round one reminds me of a Victorian African violet stand I recently saw online. I've seen them planted with sedum & I think that looks so pretty. I'd use pots though, I don't think the little shelves hold enough soil for them to do really well.
I followed a link from Frishtail cottage to read this post - love it.
what completely cool planters! my dad is giving me an old chicken feeder filled with chicks / hens & i can't wait to get my hands on it! love seeing repurposed finds in the garden! thanks so much for linking up to this weeks garden party! love it! (finally just got my own post up) lol oxox, tracie
Hi Jann, I love your new planters and they have just the right amount of rust! Thank you for joining the Open House Party.
Congratulations on your five hundred followers AND your fabulous finds!
Some things I paint, but garden pieces for sure should stay shabby!
Thanks so much for linking.
Hugs,
Patti
Wow, these planters are perfect...and just the way they are! I too love the old weathered look. I think succulents would look beautiful in the circular one (but then I'm a succulent fanatic)
Great find :)
Great finds! Love the rusty, shabby look. The first one is really unique. What sweet additions to your patio! Thanks for linking up to Share the Love Wednesday!
