Have you ever wanted to cover up something but didn’t quite know how to do it? Or maybe it’s just that you hadn’t taken the time.
Well, so it was with me.
I have been wanting to make a cover for my sewing machine and ironing board for quite some time, but didn’t really have a pattern and never took the time to figure it out..
This year in our quilt guild monthly meetings we are touring members sewing room. Today was my turn and yesterday I decided to ‘get er done’! Thank goodness for deadlines! lol!
I had a sweet little unfinished vintage table scarf that my cousin, Betty had given me. I thought this little garden gal would make the perfect cover up.
I bought the rosebud fabric last week to make an ironing board cover. I had extra so I decided to use it. The ric rac is vintage. Silly me had a hard time opening the package and using it. I didn’t have a pattern, just looked at one my friend had. It’s not perfect. . .in fact I made it too large so I just took a tuck on each side.
I love this garden gal! And look, a pretty little bird landed by her.
I was on a roll and went ahead and made the cover for my old ironing board.
A lot going on here as far as color and patterns with my sweet hanging thread basket, but you know this girl is eclectic!

My daughter and I just learned how to embroider. I need to make a cover for my sewing machine. I am not real good with the sewing machine. I just need to practice more.

How cute! I love the embroidery. I just completed a tote that turns into a dust cover for my Featherweight. I also made a bag for the petal and attachments. You are welcome to come over and see them. I love your idea!...to do the sewing machine cover AND ironing board cover that match! They are so cute ....Oh my goodness.... Today, I just completed RE-covering 8 cushions for my sister's wicker furniture...so happy that project is done. maybe I can get photos of before/after sometime soon...I put my sewing machine away....but I think it needs a little cute cover now!

I LOVE it...and so funny you should post this as I was thinking just today I need to find something to cover my machine with. It used to be I could simply lower it in it's cabinet but it broke a few months back. Now it is permanently up and it is getting too dusty. I wanted to come up with some original and cute for my cover. You may have given me a great idea. :-)

Absolutely adorable! Love the colors and faric. The only covering up I've done is much need paint jobs around the house.

Cute cover ups, Jann. That was very clever to use the unfinished embroidered scarf in the center of the sewing machine cover. And the ric-rac just enhances that vintage look. It reminds me of something I would have seen in the 50's farmhouses, where I grew up. I love what you did! xxx ~ Nancy
