It’s a Cover up!!

Have you ever wanted to cover up something but didn’t quite know how to do it?  Or maybe it’s just that you hadn’t taken the time.

Well, so it was with me.

I have been wanting to make a cover for my sewing machine and ironing board for quite some time, but didn’t really have a pattern and never took the time to figure it out..

This year in our quilt guild monthly meetings we are touring  members sewing room.  Today was my turn and yesterday I decided to ‘get er done’!  Thank goodness for deadlines!  lol!

I had a sweet little unfinished vintage table scarf that my cousin, Betty had given me.  I thought this little garden gal would make the perfect cover up.

I bought the rosebud fabric last week to make an ironing board cover.  I had extra so I decided to use it.  The ric rac is vintage.  Silly me had a hard time opening the package and using it.  I didn’t have a pattern, just looked at one my friend had.  It’s not perfect. . .in fact I made it too large so I just took a tuck on each side.

I love this garden gal!  And look, a pretty little bird landed by her.

I was on a roll and went ahead and made the cover for my old ironing board.

A lot going on here as far as color and patterns with my sweet hanging thread basket, but you know this girl is eclectic!

How about you, have you covered up anything lately?

Love it all, Jann. Wish I had your eye for decorating. The Guild meetincg was a lot of fun at your home. The zucchini bread was yummy.

I love your covers. I really need one for my sewing machine. Normally I just put a towel over it. But I really like your cover. Did you have a pattern?
Have a great evening.

How cute! I love the embroidery. I just completed a tote that turns into a dust cover for my Featherweight. I also made a bag for the petal and attachments. You are welcome to come over and see them. I have a few more covers to make (I have several sewing machines) and I will be digging through my stash of vintage embroidery :)Thank you for the inspiration, Holly

I LOVE it...and so funny you should post this as I was thinking just today I need to find something to cover my machine with. It used to be I could simply lower it in it's cabinet but it broke a few months back. Now it is permanently up and it is getting too dusty. I wanted to come up with some original and cute for my cover. You may have given me a great idea. :-)

Cute cover ups, Jann. That was very clever to use the unfinished embroidered scarf in the center of the sewing machine cover. And the ric-rac just enhances that vintage look. It reminds me of something I would have seen in the 50's farmhouses, where I grew up. I love what you did! xxx ~ Nancy
