A Cottage Tea

Hello my friends,
oh what a gorgeous day.

Perfect for a cottage tea!
Saydee came to visit so it became a cottage tea for Saydee and me.  : )
(she has been asking me when we were going to have another tea)

What would a cottage tea be without a cottage tea pot?

(a $4 thrift shop find)

And what better place to hold it than in our cottage garden?

(Sweet Rocket blooms remind me of Phlox)

(Dwarf Korean Lilacs)

Nothing says 'cottage' more than chenille.  This lavender spread made the perfect tablecloth.  I paid only $9 for it at a damaged goods store.  I couldn't find a thing wrong with it.

For the centerpiece I pulled out a couple of terrariums and filled them with the sweetest little cottage houses.  They were given to me by my oldest daughter, Nichole.

Flowers plucked from the garden add to their cottage charm.

The table is set and now we're ready for our 'cottage tea'.  I asked Saydee if she could hear the birds chirping.
She quickly said, "Birds, chirp a little louder for our tea."

(purple pretties)

I have three jadite tea cups and saucers.  I love them!  Two are a floral design and one is ridged.

Thinking it was appropriate for a tea in the garden I chose Chamomile tea from Adagio Teas.  I have loved all of their teas, but I must admit; this was not one of my favorites.

It had a bit of a bitter taste.

Saydee had pink grapefruit Italian soda.  Part of a Mother's Day gift from her family.

(notice her cute teacup has a cottage on it?)

When you come to a cottage tea, cottage flowers in your hair are a must!

And aprons, one must wear aprons!

(Saydee just happen to be a polka dotted princess)

You see, that's the reason for this cottage tea.  I just had to show off my sweet gifted apron from my friend, Jo at Annes Attic.  She sent it to me for Mother's Day and I love it!
What a doll she is, and talented, boy is she ever!

(as I was loading these photos I said to Saydee, I hate the wrinkles under my eyes.  She replied, "well that's cause you're a grandma)
Out of the mouth of babes. And I wouldn't trade it for the world!

(and no, I don't normally dress up, but this special apron called for more than just jeans)

It's made from a vintage linen.  Isn't it precious?

What an enjoyable morning!  And now we must clean it up because rain is in the forecast.

It rained all weekend and we are suppose to get some every day this week.  It sure has made the garden pretty.
I'll be sharing my May garden later this week.

Must admit, I'm ready for some sunshine!
Till then,
enjoy and take time to sip tea!

hugs,
Jann

I will be sharing with these lovely parties:

As one who loves aprons and wears one every time I cook or bake, I must say your new embroidered apron is a lovely one.
The cottage tea you had was nice, a pretty granddaughter companion and the lavender chenille used for the tablecloth.
Happy tea day!
