'Light'ening Up the Bedroom. . .

Well my friends, warmer weather means it's time to throw open the windows and enjoy those spring time breezes.

Along with that I like to switch out the bedding and add a garden feel to our master bedroom.

Perfect time to pull out vintage pillowcases.  I love them all!

I have two of these.  They were an estate sale find.

This one was a gift from my blog friend, Rose.

These were made by my Aunt Viola and given to me by my cousin, Betty for my birthday last July.

I've layered them on top of a cream matelassé spread topped with my double Irish chain quilt I made years ago from Aunt Gracie type reproduction fabrics.

I added a pink chenille pillow I made from an old sham found at a thrift shop.  The flower is made from cream wool.

Now the room has a lighter feel for Spring.  I bought the aqua door recently from Décor Steals.  I need to hang something on it.

I love how the quilt has touches of the same color as the door!

I played around a little.  First I folded a vintage quilt with pink stars at the bottom of the bed. A $40 estate sale score.

Then yesterday I snagged this lavender chenille spread for $9.

There are both pink and lavender fabrics in the quilt.  Not sure which I like best.  Do you have a preference, or do you prefer it without either?

Of course I still have touches of red.  The quilt is bound in red.
(now you can see the detail on the door)

(top of red cabinet)

(top of fireplace)

This colorful chair helps tie all of the colors together.

Assorted quilts fill part of our red cabinet.

A couple of months ago I bought a new lamp on line.  When it arrived it was more juvenile looking than what I realized.  Decided I'd try it for a while and see.

Still lots going on in this room, but I am loving the lighter feel.

hugs,
Jann

So beautiful, and I love how you laid your quilt on the angle, I have so many quilts which don't fit my bed and now I know how I can use them. I'll give you a shout out when I do it. Love the color in your room, my hubs is giving me a hard time he says it's getting too feminine in our room. does your hubs mind? Have a great Mother's Day!

Where does one start to oooh and aaah over this post, Jann. Everything in your bedroom is to die for...the gorgeous Irish Chain quilt, the chenille and pretty estate quilt, the vintage pillowcases, your bedhead.....LOVE your bedhead. Then there's that gorgeous green door...but the piece de resistance for me is your chair patched with all those pretty fabrics. You do realise if you keep this up I will need to invest in an oxygen tank to revive me each time!! Your Spring bedroom is just gorgeous, Jann!! Oh, I almost forgot...you have an aunt with the name Viola....how perfectly wonderful!!

I love vintage textiles! So much fun to and so many ways to utilize them. Your room captures the colours perfectly. I like the pink cover on the foot of the bed, and I also like how you have the quilt on an angle. I would not have thought of that. I think your lamp is cute. If you're not sure about it you add your own cover to it or add some lace or throw a doily over it. Enjoyed your post. Have the loveliest Mother's Day! Diane
