A few weeks ago when I walked up to the door at an estate sale and spied this medical cart out on the porch I almost had a heart attack.
Seriously, it was love at first sight and I couldn't wait to grab it. But as I worked my way towards it and saw the price I felt as if I was in need of a double bypass!
Yes, they knew what they had and they were going to make me pay for it!
I resisted for a while, but those legs and wheels just kept creeping back into my mind.
Well obviously the cart won out and I bit the bullet and dished out the cash. Although they came down $25 for me, which they never do on the first day.
It has been in my garage ever since waiting for me to give it some attention.
Today, between rain storms I did just that.
I pulled out supplies that every good nurse needs.
Tools of the trade corralled together for even the most difficult operation.
Twine for tying things up,
an old pharmacy bin,
and a few pretty bottles to hold little necessities.
I found these fun bottles a couple years ago at a thrift. Perfect for those little emergencies.
For now they are holding white daisies, red honeysuckle, and bleeding heart.
I picked up these cheese crocks, you guessed it; at a thrift; thinking I could use them to hold seeds.
I opened one up and dropped the lid while setting up this display. Good thing I wasn't in the middle of surgery. he-he!
Oh well, for now it will hold a white geranium.
The insect sprayer will do the trick of putting you out for that medical procedure.
One whiff and you're a goner. lol!
When I think of anything medical, the colors of red and white come to mind.
But I had to throw in a touch of purple.
We all know how important it is to stay hydrated. I snagged this Coleman cooler at our local thrift a while ago for $2. It's beat up, but I love it!
We have three Dwarf Korean Lilacs planted by our pergola. The blooms aren't large, but they smell heavenly!
I'm sure that I will use it as a serving cart sometimes, but I sure had fun playing with it today!
Have you ever paid more than you would've liked to for something, but knew you would kick yourself if you didn't buy it?
Wonder if I could write it off as medical expense? : )
hugs,
Jann

Hi Jann,
Love the medical cart that is an awesome find. Sometimes when you love something at first sight you just have to have it even if the price is more than you want to spend. Been there done that lol! It is a great piece and since you love it so much it was all worth it in the end. Love all the styling treasures on it too.
Kris
You are too, too funy. Love this humorous post! Yes many a time I have forked out too much just because I have really, really needed a pretty. Your medical cart, Jann.....now there's a find. It is so quirky and cute. I can smell the fragrance of your lilacs all the way down here. As ever, your vignettes of your gorgeous finds are fabulous!
Love, totally Love! Working in the medical field, I think this is a true treasure! And no I don't usually pay more than I should for things, I just usually am the person who regrets walking away...sigh! You got yourself a beauty! Enjoy it! Blessings, Cindy
What a wonderful find on that white surgical cart!!! Love it!!!!
Some fun and creative things you have on display on, and around it too!

Love the narration; drawing the garden items into the medical arena---brought a smile. Thanks.
Oh Jann, I think I would've done the same thing as you - I am crushing on the cart! Your supplies are perfect and so is the narrative here - too cute! Just wondering, did you do anything like polycoat the metal to protect it while outside?
Love your dwarf lilacs! I have one, still so tiny after 4 years, but it bloomed so nicely this year, I'd like to get at least one more.
I'm actually hoping for rain for transplants and newly planted things in the garden - tired of babying!
Have a great weekend!

Jann,
Now that is definitely way before my time as a nurse!! LOL!

This post made me smile!
Toooo funny! I showed my husband your comments ! He looked at me and just shook his head with a smile ! He thinks we are all crazy ! Ha! They just don't get it! Enjoy your new finds! Cindy
I bet you'll come up with many ways to use the cart. What a great find! You do find the best things when you are out and about.
I love that cart! I would have had a hard time passing it up. And yes, I have paid way too much for things because I had to have them. Usually it is something for me, helping me to justify it!
Definitely a great write off! What lovely lines, I love the way you have accessorized it.
Hugs,
Patti
Fun post! But if I need medical attention- think I will go else where. LOL
I am sure I have paid to much for something I really wanted.
Hope you are enjoying the weekend.
Jann, you really as the master of the charming vignette. It's just perfect and I love the cart, it has so much character.
It's adorable and perfect. I, too, have paid more than I wanted to for pieces, but not before deep thought, and I'm always certain the piece is really worth the money and that I will not only enjoy looking at it, but that it will be useful in the years to come.
I love that you put some bleeding hearts on there! Very appropriate :-) What a great find! and I am so glad you got this rather than losing out later. xx
I will have to seek out a dwarf Korean lilac
Jann, loved reading your blog. You are a super writer, and so creative, too. Yes, once at an auction, I did spend what I thought was too much for a box of hand made European lace doilies. A dealer was bidding against me, but I knew how valuable they were. I bid $75 and got them. So glad I did. Some things are just worth it. Enjoy your cart, Bev
Jann I think you got a steal for 25 bucks! It is gorgeous, and so are all of your very important medical supplies. Enjoy the wet weather. The yards are looking amazing. Hugs, Jo
Love your medical cart! And laughed all the way thru reading your post! Thanks for the laughs! Your flowers all look great.

I love love that table. I also love how you decorated it!!
OMG Jann, that medical cart is to die for! Well not like heart attack to die for, lol...
What a find! I don't think I could have left that behind either!
I love seeing your garden posts!

I'd say it was worth every penny. Just look how happy it has you feeling! ;-)
Fun and friendly compositions with old kills insects!
Love the cart and the way you staged it. Yes, sometimes an item is so perfect you have to grab it, even if it's more than you want to spend. Congratulations on your fantastic score.
Jann, what a find! I know you would've kicked yourself later if you'd been "sensible" and passed it up!
Jann, what a find! I know you would've kicked yourself later if you'd been "sensible" and passed it up!
I totally "get it"...I would likely have given in and loaded that in my car too! Not something you run across every day for sure.
uhhhhh..... you have my mailing address - just in case develop buyer's remorse :)
If it's a one-of-a-kind item and something I don't come across very often (or never), and it speaks to me loud and clear, I almost always spring for it! I'm so glad you bit the bullet and bought this medical cart, Jann...it's fabulous!! I know you'll have fun with it.

That cart is so very cool! I love your display, too.
My father was a bacteriologist for the state of Michigan for many years. Your find in this post makes me wish I had some of his old equipment. I do have some of his books, though, including his Army manuals.
Jann, I absolutely love your super cool medical cart. I certainly could not have passed it up either regardless of price. You have it outfitted perfectly. sb
LOVE the cart, Jann--it's really unique--simple and sleek. Yes, I've bought many things at slightly higher prices because I was pretty sure I would cherish them. Most of the time I've been right :)
What a fun post. The cart is wonderful! I love, love the glass insect bottles! I remember my aunt had an insect sprayer similar to yours. It was empty and my brother and I used to play with it sometimes. Wish I could find something neat at our thrift store-I never seem to find much when I visit. Your post was lovely and brought back a happy memory. Thank You!
What a lovely post and the table is so beautiful - love it! You really have so many nice thing´s there...
Have a great week, take care!

oh my goodness I LOVE the medical cart and had I been there we would have to fight to the finish to see who it went home with. I collect medical stuff too......what a fun vignette! Congratulations
Great idea - useful and yet trendy enough for kids not to feel that they stand out too much!
