Treasures and Trinkets Tuesday #2

Hello my friends,
today I'm here to share a few more of my recent finds with you.

More treasures than trinkets this week.

Let's start with one I found yesterday.
I needed to drop off a couple of boxes at our local thrift.  I have been good and not going inside the last few months.  I am in search of  vintage items for a couple of upcoming crafts that we'll be making in my two craft groups.  So of course, I needed to check it out.  :)

This sweet little doll was in the collectors case for $15.

It was the red metal trunk that caught my eye.

And I loved that it had this original tag on it.  The silliest things make me ever so happy!!

She did not have the hat on.  I found it lying inside the case.  Isn't it so cute?  I don't know her name.  I found the trunk on line, but wasn't able to find her.  Her legs are jointed.  Anyone have
any idea?  Oh, and I love her plaid dress and little shoes!!

Here is an update.  Thanks to my wonderful readers, I now know that she is definitely a Betsy McCall doll.  I always loved the paper dolls and named our youngest daughter, Kylee McCall after them.  Was not sure what the doll looked like.  I'm beyond thrilled!!

She came with more clothes and another pair of shoes.  Sweet, sweet!!

Would you have bought her?

A little over a week ago hubby and I went gallivanting for a day.  I picked this set of S&P shakers up for $1.50.  I have a pair like them down in my basement kitchen.  This pair will stay upstairs.

I also found this scale.  It wasn't instant  love because it is plastic.  Also, it was not priced.

I took it to the cashier and she said, "how's a dollar?"  The green pointer kept calling my name, so I brought it home.

This BFG (Butterfly Gold) Pyrex was just sitting on the shelf.  It was filthy and the front was totally coated in baked on yuck!  It had $.75 and $1.50 stickers on it.  Not sure what I was charged.  It may have been one price for the lid and another for the dish.  Either way, it's a win, win!  Pyrex is so sought after and usually found in the collectibles cabinet.

I host a stitching group at my home on Thursdays.  Not every week, but whenever there are at least 5 that can come we get together.  Really, we mostly visit and eat.  lol!  Everyone brings a potluck item.  It's such a fun time though.

Afterwards me and two friends drove down to the same local thrift.  The back of my car was filled with donations left over from the last estate sale.  I wasn't finding much, but just before we left I spied Pyrex on a cart that had been wheeled out.  This Homestead bowl is so shiny I doubt it was ever used.  $.75 cents.

Then I turned and saw this aqua beauty on another cart.  $.75 cents as well.  Woot, woot!!  What a score!

Now for my last two finds.  The old scale was scored at a thrift shop while vacation in Carmel last June.  It's super rusty, but for $5 I wasn't about to pass it up.

I just picked up this bird planter off of Vintage Yard Sale Utah last weekend for $12.  I have plans to do something fun with it.

 Such a sweet tweet!

Do you have a favorite that you would have brought home with you?

Happy hunting!

Jann

You always find such great treasures ---- maybe I need to check out Utah closer. In the past, we have driven through Utah in a hurry to get to California! The doll ----- she looks very similar to a Betsy McCall doll that I have. She is buried in my big doll trunk, or else I would check her size; but I'm thinking mine must be about 10" tall. Your red trunk is also adorable. I bought one like it in the 1970s for my daughter's Christmas, and dressed a doll for it. Recently, my daughter wanted to give the whole thing to Goodwill, but I wouldn't let her; so it is up in my attic. She is not a keeper of things --- guess she can give it to Goodwill when they clean out our house. Hopefully, someone like you will find it to cherish.

My older sister had a Ginny doll in a pink trunk like this, and she had many extra clothes. By the time I was old enough for this sort of doll Barbie had become popular so i opted for one of those instead. I love the pyrex bowls--ne can never have enough of them

You really found some great things. I love the doll and trunk! What a fun find! Pyrex is rare to see in the thrifts around here and for sure not at those prices! My Mom and I went thrifting today for fun and I found some things that made me so happy! I'll share on my blog soon. Hugs!

WOW! What a find. The doll is a Betsy McCall. My sister has one just like it except her skirt is blue plaid. The bowl is identical to one we have.

What fun finds. I really like that turquoise bowl!!! You were lucky to get the Pryex for that price.

I think that might be a Ginny Doll-they came with a trunk like that and I had one years ago....or it could be a Ginger Doll-they were a little older, I think. You could probably look them up...and I would have bought it--whether I needed it or not. lol

Have a great night- xo Diana

Great treasures Jann. I don't go in now as I have a treasure chest in my garage LOL. I need to get in there and start getting rid of stuff as I just can't do all that decorating. I just turned 82 last Wednesday. but still get around petty good for a old gal.

Love all your treasures. I have the largest mixing bowl that came with the blue one. I got the entire set for a wedding gift back in 1957. I think I have the smallest one too.

Enjoy the rest of your week.

Hugs,
Mary

My first thought was Ginny Doll, too. Jointed legs for certain! I also had the case, and some store bought clothes but my mom made many outfits for my Ginny dolls; I had several. Didn't know about the "Betsy McCall" doll, other than the cut-outs at the back of McCalls magazine.

Killer buy on the pyrex! I have seen it go for $15 to $30 a bowl in antique stores. I would love some to cook with but it is so expensive around here, I would be afraid of dropping it and breaking it.

I would say she is a Ginny doll. What a great find!! I had one (and I am 67 years old), and then a few years later all the kids had Barbies. That would be my guess. That little red jumper is exactly like one I had for my sweet Ginny!!

I love them all but I definitely would have grabbed the aqua bowl, the doll and the scales! I have found two of the doll trunks but no dolls in them. Love your new Treasures and Trinkets Tuesday posts!

You always find so many nice things for great prices. You must have a big house to fit everything in it. 😊

I can't believe the prices that you were able to purchase those items for. A bowl like that here would easily have been $50 and that doll! I certainly would have brought her home!!

All your treasures are wonderful, Jann! The doll is so cute, and seems to me that I had a little case quite similar to that when I was young (way back in the day!). You really find great deals!

Hi, the doll is definitely a later Betsy McCall. I would guess from memory that trunk is from the mid-to-late 60's. Might want to hang on to them. Lots of other goodies, you have found too. Ginny, Muffy, Toni, and some Madame Alexanders were popular in the 8" size...perfect for that trunk at that time. Sandi
