Hi friends, do you remember a couple of weeks ago when I showed you this tall chicken feeder I bought from my friend, Dolly’s Aunt Bunny?
She was kind of a plain Jane and I knew she needed something to make her a little bit fancy.
Well look at her now!
One of my favorite magazines is Country Gardens. It’s one of those that you never tire of no matter how old. I never throw an issue away.
It only comes four times a year. Every now and then I pull out back issues and just enjoy. While browsing through an old ‘2008’ issue I saw this. . .
Immediately I thought, that is just like my feeder only fancier. I had to give my girl a make over. I didn’t have a checkered board stencil so I cut a square out of cardstock with my large square punch and it worked great. I wasn’t going for perfection here. In fact, I wanted to be a bit imperfect.
I used what alphabet stencils I had so my lettering is a bit different.
Using stuff I already had around the house this project cost me chicken feed.
And who knew that Purina did more than feed cats and dogs?
I didn’t copy everything that was on the one in the magazine, but I love the new look!
It found a home on my wall behind the pergola next to a few other tin buddies.
What fun projects have you been doing lately?
Hugs,
Jann

Your talent is amazIng. Cute for the garden!♥♫
I love what you've done to the chicken feeder. I gave mine away when we stopped keeping chickens! As for projects... I'm getting my men folk to put mesh round my veg garden to try and stop the rabbits. I hope they finish it soon as I really want to get on with the planting! Joan
Wow - you did a fantastic job on the feeder. It looks great. You should do Debbiedoos copycat challenge. Maybe I should keep my magazines....
That's a great idea. You did a fantastic job in recreating the magazine photo. The watering can on the right is really a unique shape.
I just love this idea. My parents have some old chicken waterers but maybe not much longer if I have anything to do with it - lol :)
Country Gardens is also my 'fav' magazine, I just received my latest issue today in the mail. Brightens my day! I love what you did with the chicken feeder. I have a chicken feeder but I am using it to feed my chickens!
I just bought a chicken feeder last week! Fun planter!
The checkerboard really adds the perfect touch! Fun project! I'm in holding right now! lol
I couldn't wait to find out what you'd do with the feeder! and, I wasn't disappointed! I have one I'm getting out this week!
Thanks for sharing. . .
Too cute Jann!... I just love it!... we had the old Smith Milling here in Bountiful that sold Purina feed... back in the "good old days" that I so love... I too save my old Country Gardens, love them... just got my newest one in the mail today!... thanks for sharing your darling creation... I love it perfectly imperfect!... xoxo Julie Marie
That is really fantastic, Jann! I love the new look.
This such a good idea! It looks great!! I just covered an ottoman!

GREAT job! I absolutely love it! It reminds me of some of those old Purina buildings that still dot the countryside here and there. xo Diana
That is just darling!!!! I love it!!!!
That is so bloomin' cute (literally!) I'll be featuring you next week at Knick of Time Tuesday - thanks so much for sharing your blooming feeder!
Blessings,

You are so creative and talented...I enjoy looking at your stuff, since I don't take the time to do that kind of thing!
Very cool! I love how it came out. It looks super all planted!
Hugs,
Courtney
I just love seeing all of the creativity of the bloggers in Blogland! The transformation of the feeder is amazing. Wonderful job!
Love it so cute
Hi Jann,
I love what you did with your chicken feeder. And yes, Purina makes a fine laying mash! :)
All of your photos are gorgeous.
Thanks for stopping by my blog and being a follower.

Well, how cute is this! Now, I want one. :)
Love your feeder. How adorable! What a wonderful transformation. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Now you just sparked my imagination! That feeder looks to be stove or duct pipe welded onto a pan of some sort with holes drilled in it. I've got stove pipe and I've got pans... Hmmm...
Love your creation. You did wonderfully! Thanks for the inspiration.
Jann you are SO clever. Your feeder looks so professionally done. You'd pay a pretty penny to buy one like that. And I just gave a couple of feeders away. Oh what was I thinking. You inspire me!!
Nancy
I'm thinkin' we are kindred spirits! I just hauled out an old chicken feeder to 'do something with' (not as good a shape as yours) I *love* Country Gardens magazine and I never throw them out either. I have a few watering cans, too, but yours are really cool!
I'm following you back ~ we seem to have much in common! ;~P
Oh! That's so darling, love it! What a great idea and redo, so cute.
Happy Rednesday!
Hi Jann, I love your plain Jane chicken feeder turned Cinderella! I love the makeover. Your feeder looks exactly like the one in the magazine. I think you did a great job, and a great tutorial. It looks even better than the one in the magazine.
I love that it's found a great new home, looks great next to the galvanized pieces. Really pretty Jann.
Have a great evening.
