The Winter Blues. . .

As many of you may know, this time of year alot of people suffer from the ‘Winter Blues’.  After all the hustle and bustle of Christmas things slow down and for many of us, we settle into a long cold Winter.

Lucky for me, I have never really had a problem with the Winter Blues.  That’s not to say that I am not already counting the days till Spring.

I find that keeping myself busy is the best cure.  Who has time to get down in the dumps?

I fight the ‘Winter Blues’ by pulling out some of my ‘Blues’.  I swapped out my red dotty bowls for my vintage Pyrex.

I also created a little ‘blue’ baking center in the kitchen.

I placed my snowflake Pyrex on an old scale and filled it with a vintage pastry blender and beater.

My wicker scale holds another beater, a turquoise fridge mate, an old cooking thermometer, and this funky flour tin.

A couple of blue bottles hold snowflakes.

And look at this frosty blue bubblegum.

Winter Table

My mantle is now home to some of my ‘blue’ bottle collection.  I will show the entire mantle in another post.

And look at these fun new ‘blues’ that I got for Christmas.  My son bought them for me from his two boys, Jack & Will.  Haven’t done anything with them yet, but lots of possibilities!

I hope that my ‘Winter Blues’ might help to chase away yours!

Hugs,

Jann

Oh, I cant wait to see the rest of your mantle. I love it already. And those new blues from jack and will are super cute! Your really good at chasing the winter blues away. During the winter months after school, I always couldnt wait to get home to our warm cozy house with delicious food and candles burning, never any room for winter blues there. Love you.

I love all your blues, Jann!

I don't get the blues in winter but quite a few of my family members do. I tend to not like too much heat and sun, so I am their polar opposite, pun intended.

I love your vintage blue and aqua especially the Pyrex bowls! You have a great collection. I am still in Christmas mode here and will be until after New Year's Day. I am dreading having to take it all down though. Blessings, Pamela

I do my best to fight off the blues, but I do enjoy my blue decor mixed with my whites. Your blue and white is the perfect decor for winter.

I don't have any Pyrex. That one thing I don't collect. LOL. I love the your blues. I think I have said it before, but I love the chandelier. And I might say it again when you show it again!

Jann- I just adore YOUR kind of winter blues. I don't suffer from them either but I do like to see the sunshine. I find keeping busy is the best thing for me to keep me "up". Loving ALL your blues- xo Diana

So pretty and fresh. I love the winter touches, the snowflakes and snowman....I seem to go from all Christmas to nothing. It's nice to still have those pretty seasonal touches! Can't wait to see all of your mantel and what you do with the gifts from your son!!!

Loved seeing your blues! :)
I have the small casserole with clear glass lid on top (1st pic), and a white one with the aqua image. Had another larger one, but broken many years ago. They were gifts in the 60's - Talk about a flash back! Thanks for sharing your collection.

Those flashes of pretty blue are sure to cheer up the grey days of winter! I kind of like hunkering down with hot tea and good books for a couple of months so it doesn't really bother me if the weather is bad.

I love your winter blues!! I collect those blue jars too. We got a blizzard here the day after Christmas, but they cleared the roads pretty good today...so we were able to get out for a bit. Heard we have more snow coming on Saturday...thinking it might be a long winter!!
