(I painted these little wooden characters years ago and they still hold a soft spot in my heart)
Miss Potter is one of my favorite movies and if you haven't seen it you are really missing out!
I am such a theme person. Give this gal a theme and she's in her element. lol! So this year I chose, 'Mr. McGregors Garden' for my Spring/Easter mantle.
What a fun time I had!
We all know that Peter was a bit of a naughty rabbit and even after his mother warned him not to, he still snuck into Mr. McGregor's garden.
Well now, if you ask me old man McGregor was a bit to blame. I mean just look at that big carrot saying, 'Welcome'! What curious bunny could resist that?
Certainly not Peter!
(Yeah, I know that Peter was a brown bunny, but this is a Fairy Tale. . .use your imagination. he-he)
Knowing that there were crunchy carrots, juicy tomatoes, and luscious cabbage just beyond that rickety old gate was tempting enough.
Oh my when Peter was being chased by Mr. McGregor he wanted to jump into this watering can and hide.
But it was filled with a big fat cabbage and garden tools.
(this is one of my favorite vintage watering cans simply because I love the green chippy handle)
You might be asking yourself, "what do dishes have to do with Mr. Mcgregors garden?"
Remember that Peter's father met his demise in McGregors garden and ended up in a stew, or was it a pie?
Mrs. McGregor keeps her dishes handy, hoping to cook up Peter someday.
(plus, I just found these babies, a whole boxful of ironstone at a thrift and couldn't wait to use them!)
I don't know why Mr. Mcgregor is so stingy with his veggies. He's got plenty of seeds to plant more.
this poor picket fence has lost it's top board. I really need hubby to add a new one. Out of old wood of course.
Most people would have tossed it in the trash, but I love it!
Bunny plate and faux sedum on the hearth.
(I made the Buggy Barn bunny quilt years ago)
I figured that this mantle décor is not too Easter looking and that it could carry me through all of March and April.
We'll see, he-he!
I hope that March brings warmer weather to those of you that have seen such a harsh winter.
And remember, stay out of Mr. Mcgregors garden!
You don't want to end up in a stew!!
hugs,
Jann

Adorable, Jann! Your quilt is so special!
Hugs and happy weekend,

Jann,
you've made the perfect Spring/Easter mantle! Who can resist Peter Rabbit and all his friends! He's one of my favorites too. Recently I went into Pottery Barn kids and they had a table set with adorable Peter Rabbit dishes and accessories, it was adorable!
Rebecca
What a fun themed spring mantle/hearth, Jann! Can't believe your ironstone find too, that's great!! Blessings, Cindy
CUTE CUTE CUTE!!!!!
I own the dvd of Miss Potter and when my tea society bestie pals came to spend weekend a couple ago none of them had seen it - so needless to say we watched it. Such a good memory.
I have the boxed set of The Tales of Peter Rabbit, but don't have every single thing she ever did after all those. She was - still is to us - a remarkable woman!
Such a fun post. Your mantle is heralding all things Spring, bunnies and Easter...just gorgeous. I am in love with your green bunny plate...now that is special; as is the pretty quilt!
Jann...love your Spring/March mantel. It's so pretty and says that Spring is on it's way. March is my favorite month as I was born in March on Easter Day many...many...many years ago. Oh how I wish it felt like Spring here in Ohio, but we have a snow storm coming in for the first day of March.
hugs,
Cindy
I love it all. Would love to have a bunny quilt.
This is adorable. I love Peter Rabbit and this is a perfect mantel for spring/Easter.
hugs,
Linda
Jann,
So sweet!!
Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and leave such kind words about my 57 shades of gray!!
Hugs,
Debbie
Oh how cute, Jann! That is my favorite character ever. I have all the little books and a couple of collectible pieces that was produced in a very limited amount by Beatrix Potter. He was just so endearing, wasn't he? (Peter, I mean- sweet, cute and naughty!)
I love your mantle. I think it is just darling. You did a great job! xo Diana
Oh my goodness Jann - your decorations are adorable and so charming. I love Peter Rabbit and especially the movie Miss Potter - Miss Potter would love your mantel.
I am going back for a 2nd look!!!
Have a wonderful day,
Blessings, Erin
Oh what a delightful post. I love your mantle. I have always had a love affair of rabbits and have them all over the house and garden.
Have a great week ahead and be careful out there in that snow.
Mary
Delightful! I've had Peter Rabbit on my mind all day. Looking for spring inspiration here on this cold, grey day!
That looks darling Jan! Love the theme!
Your spring decor is great, and your narrative made me laugh! I felt warmer just looking at the photos. Today I asked the DH if it was too early to put up my spring things and he said, "Yes," but I'm going to follow your lead and brighten things up. Maybe the weather will take the hint!
Oh wow Jann, what a cute Peter Rabbit inspired mantle! I do like the movie Miss Potter!
Take care and happy Sunday!
Gina
You are such a clever girl, my friend. Your Peter Rabbit mantel is adorable. It's so fun to come and see what you're up to, and I for one am glad you're into themes. They inspire me. Now I just need a place to put that inspiration into play. It's coming! LOL Hugs, dear Jann. Hope you're having a great weekend. ~ Nancy
Jann,
This is too cute. Love your Peter Rabbit mantel.
I am telling you girl you are the queen of the cutest vignettes. Have a great week end.
Kris
Jann - First - Yay for March! I love everything about your McGregor mantel, including the fence without its top crossbar - leave it, it's so cute!
Rita
Jann,
I love the movie Miss Potter also. We have been making plans to visit Beatrice Potter's home someday as it's free for National Trust members. Susan Branch also talked about it in her book 'A Fine Romance' Falling in Love With The English Countryside. The bunnies you painted look cute too.
~Kiki~
I'm jumping on the Band Wagon of themes! I enjoy having a theme and going for it!
Your Peter Rabbit theme is perfect for this time of year. Good job!
Oh how my grandchildren would love to visit your house and see all of your gorgeous Peter art! We do Peter Rabbit at Thanksgiving when everyone visits. They love to hear the adventures of Peter Rabbit and Mr. McGregor's garden as much as their mothers did when they were little. Beautiful mantel!
Oh Jann I just love Spring and you have really captured it with bunnies and garden themes. Beautiful my dear. hugs, Jo
I don't think I've ever seen the movie, Jann, so I will search it out. Those wooden bunnies that you painted are amazing! Such a fun post. Thanks for the SMILES. Happy March to you and all your readers.
Hugs,

Yep! There it is! I was awaiting the Easter post! You painted those?!! WOW! you do good!! They are adorable! Look so much like Beatrix Potter's illustrations in her books!
Jann, what a fabulous display this is!!! I too love Beatrix Potter, and the movie is wonderful. I highly recommend checking out Susan Branch's blog. Seeing Beatrix Potter's home was one of the highlights of her recent trip to England, and she has wonderful Peter Rabbit décor in her house. You may know Susan from her cookbooks, calendars, and other lovely things. Her blog is lovely.

A lovely Spring display !
Thank you so much for your sweet comment on my blog and for hosting the weekly party.

Your mantle is perfect for the anticipation of Spring! I finally got tired of looking at my snowman so they are put away, but thought maybe it was a little too early to bring out the bunnies. Not now! you have inspired me!
That naughty bunny is beloved here too!

Seriously, I love your spring/easter mantel. And your lucky cause if I lived closed I'd borrow/steal those cut green bunny dishes! I sure am hoping Spring will be coming soon, cause I can't take anymore snow or cold!
Oh how delightful! Loved all the close ups and for sure you could leave it all up.
I boo-hooed when I watched Miss Potter but not at the sad part- the part where she's sitting on the hills and drawing. I'm so weird! Ha-ha!
Lovely photoseries and beautiful things and work.
I like Peter Rabbit too, have a German Translation.
