Vintage Toys for Christmas. . .

Dear Santa,

IMG_3600

All I want for Christmas are vintage toys.

IMG_3619

Tin toys are my favorite things that I like best. . .

Unlike plastic they outlast the rest.

Some may no longer work because they’ve been wound too tight. . .

Still, just looking at them brings me such delight!

Desks made of wood are so very sweet. . .

If I was still in school I’d gladly take a seat!

This old dolly would make me twirl. . .

I’d take her any day over an ‘American Girl’!

IMG_3617

Cars, and trucks that even the grands still like,

Every now and then we need to tell technology to take a hike!

Doll houses and barns, and Frontier Forts made of wood.

Oh, how I’d go back in time. . .if I could!

Tops that twirl and some that spin,

Bored?  No way, for me it’s a win, win!

Now that I’ve shared (some) of my vintage toys.

Guess I’ll step back into reality and enjoy my computer that gives me technological joy!

My little sleigh was made in Germany.  I found it at a damaged goods store a few years ago.  I have been collecting tin toys for years.  Like Frank (from Pickers) they bring me so much joy.  I found my large blow mold Santa at a thrift store for $5.  Which I didn’t actually pay for.  I reached into my purse to pull out my check book only to find that I had left it at home.  I asked the cashier if she would hold him while I called my husband and asked him to bring me money.  The gentleman in line behind me said, “Let me just pay for it”.  I tried to get his address so I could mail the money to him but he refused.  The little Santa was found at a yard sale for $5 also.  I have bought some of my tin toys, but a lot of them were given to me by my older sister, Dee Dee.  Thanks to all of you for bringing me such delight!

Hop over and join Carlene for our Creating Christmas party.

That was so sweet of that man to buy the Santa for you. That is just how my father-in-law was. What a beautiful heart.

I do love vintage toys but don't have many. Wasn't that nice of the man to pay it forward and get the Santa for you!

I loved your old-fashioned lines of rhyme that went so well with the spirit of your toys!

What a charming post Jann!!! I love vintage too. I have been collecting the old vintage Fisher Price little people and toys. I have the bus, and the farm and silo. I adored those back in the day. My grands still play with them.
I am totally with you on your views. There is too much sensory overload for kids out there now. Most of which, they don't even stay enamored with for long!

I love your fun poem, Jann! I feel the same way as you. I refuse to buy any electronic toys for our grandchildren while they're little. The old-fashioned toys make them use their imagination. Great collection of old toys!

I love this post Jann! My mantel has a large Santa and is covered with vintage toys. Plus I have a sleigh in front of the mantel filled with vintage toys. They're so much fun and bring back great memories!

Jann, I enjoyed looking at all your vintage toys, some of which I remember from my childhood. So much fun to see them and know that they are still being saved from the landfill (which is probably where mine went!!). Great post!
