Springtacular Copycat Party

Tomorrow is the beginning of the Springtacular Party.

The theme for  Debbie Doos Blogging and Blabbing is Copycat.

As many of you know, hubby and I (mostly hubby) have been adding a bit of cottage charm to our living room.

I will be showing the entire room later.  For now I am sharing part of what I used for my copycat post.

This was the inspiration for my idea.  One of my favorite magazines, flea market style.

Notice the blue shutters?

IMG_5769

Here’s what I came up with. Although I didn’t copy the entire design, I love the shutters!  I had picked these shutters up at a yard sale in Idaho for 50 cents each.  I just happen to have the perfect blue paint left over from my kitchen island.  Then after a bit of sanding and glazing I had developed shutter love.

This pitcher and small glass frog dish will be ideal for roses.  Darn, I didn’t get to the store to buy any and no roses blooming here yet.

IMG_5765

Originally I bought these corbels to attach to my kitchen island.  Hubby was not too thrilled and thought that we would always be bumping them.  He was so happy when I said I was going to use them in the living room instead.

IMG_5766

The shelf is an old door my hubby cut in half. My friend, Joyce noticed this idea at the shop where I purchased my mirror.  I needed something to hold the weight of the mirror.  Love this idea!  The two mini tea cups and saucers are recent estate sale finds.

There you have it.  What do you think of my copycat?  Not a lot like the picture, but oh I had fun!

Hugs,

Jann

I enjoyed this post so much...the shabby chic look of the shelf and corbels is wonderful and has so much character...the shutters are a lovely accent. Men don't always understand or appreciate character in decorating...I know this first hand. Have a wonderful week.
