As a child I was a bit of a tomboy. Although as a teenager I had a lavender bedroom and had learned to love some ‘girly’ things. when It came time to plan for my wedding; china, crystal, or silver were not on my list of wants.
After 16 years of marriage we moved into our second home. My sweet mil gifted me with my first (and only) set of china.
Peach was her favorite color so it’s no wonder she picked this gorgeous pattern. I also had peach, rose and blue in my kitchen and living room area.
I will be joining Cuisine kathleen for her Let’s dish ‘china’ party.
It’s such a gorgeous morning that I decided to set the table in the garden.
The combination of peach, rose, and green is lovely. I pulled out the pink with my set of thrift find napkins ($2 for 6) and a Ranuncula blossom accented the peach. Roses would have been perfect, but I have none blooming yet.
I have never owned beautiful silverware so I’ve used my every day. Gold would have been gorgeous against the scalloped rim of the plates.
No fancy stemware either. I have used a mixture. The two end settings have green goblets. A yard sale find while vacationing in Virginia.
The other four are gorgeous crystal that once were my mothers.
My beautiful china is a service for 12. Being the eclectic person that I am I had to mix in a bit of depression glass.
The centerpiece is a few things that I pulled from inside my home. An urn with pink flowers. My scalloped green cake plate filled with items for a spot of tea, and a reproduction green bell jar filled with dried roses.
I tied a gifted vintage gold heart to the jar to accent the gold rim on the plates.
I found a few pieces of vintage flatware. Love the tarnished look!
No time for baking today so store bought cookies will have to do.
What could go better with cookies than a cup of tea and a book of poems by Emily Dickinson? The teapot was a thrift find and the book was a gift.
If I was using this for a party I might make a pretty peat pot like this one. A give away win a couple years ago from Tracie at Fishtail Cottage.
My white linen tablecloth and numbered chairs are perfect for this delicate china.
I don’t use this china a lot, but I love it!

It's funny, when I got married, I didn't want fine china or silver either but I wanted my mother to have it. So I started a set of china for her. Years later, it has come back to me. Since my children moved out, I began collecting.

I absolutely adore your china. You know, check at Ross. They often have the gold plated silverware really reasonable. It would be beautiful with those dishes.

Why is it that we don't use our china more often? Yours is lovely and the depression glass is the perfect 'add on'. Any morning you can set the table outside is a blessing, right? In your neck of the woods I would imagine the hot summer is just around the corner. Thanks for inspiring me to get my china out more often.

The china your MIL chose for you is pretty and you should use it more often to enjoy it. I used to save the 'good stuff' only for company but have thrown that thought out the window and use my pretties as often as possible.
The green depression glass has me drooling, and it adds a nice touch to your table.

Beautiful china! And I personally LOVE the way you mixed all your pretties! When I used to have tea get togethers more often than I do now I would always let people pick their favorite cups and plates. That way everything you have gets a chance to shine!
