Short Stack. . .

I know that it’s the weekend and a home cooked breakfast of pancakes, bacon, and eggs sounds quite tasty.  But no my friends, that’s not the short stack I am referring to.

I’m talking about a short stack of another kind.

Many of you have your wonderful stacks of vintage suitcases, picnic hampers, and plaid tins.

Well me, I just don’t quite measure up.  Here, I’ll show you what I mean:

Just look at these fabulous stacks of suitcases that I have pinned.

Now here’s mine:  Yup, falling a little short!  lol!

And just get a load of these wonderful tins:

Oh my, take your breath away!  Again, I’m not quite measuring up:

Up until recently I did only have one.  At least now I have two.  Yahoo!  Moving up in the world!

The same goes for wicker.

Mine:

Again, I only had one until two weeks ago.

A stop at our local thrift store yesterday gifted me with a third.  Double, or should I say triple Yahoo!

So even though I may not be as fabulous as all of you, I feel that I still have the opportunity to grow.

So all of you mothers out there, (or even future mothers); if you sometimes feel that you just don’t quite measure up.

Don’t put yourself down. . .remember it’s NEVER to late to grow!  Just be the best that YOU can be!

Happy Mothers Day!

hugs,

Jann

Cute photos and message! I've collected baskets for years, but they are spread out in short stacls. I think if mine were too high and fell over, that would not be good. :) They are great for hiding everything, and some of them, I have no idea what is in them! Happy Mother's Day. xoxo

I had some great suitcase years ago and gave them away because they weren't in style. Had TONS of baskets because I used make all sorts of gift baskets and sold them to a hotel to put amenities in and now they are the rage. So I am afraid to clear the decks because it might come back in style LOL.
I think you are doing great - that's the fun - the hunt of a item and you have a good start.
Have a very wonderful Mothers Day Jan.

Jann, All I can say is...you better get to junking girl !!! I love those plaid things so much. I have thought of trying to collect suitcases and using them for storing things...but I know , what ever I would want, would be in the case on the bottom. LOL Blessings to you for a great Mother's Day. xoxo,Susie

I adore that stacked look. We had suitcases like that when I was growing up, tons of them, but all gone now. Oh boy, when I think about what was tossed back in the day and what it would all be worth now, at least to me, I cringe! :) Did I see your pretty lamp/ birdhouse go by on my Facebook feed from Hometalk? Kudos!

Hi Jann,
I have a couple of old vintage white suit cases that I think I may put out on the deck this summer. Hope you have a great Mom's Day tomorrow. Enjoy.

Suitcases, picnic baskets, and trunks are all so pretty when they are in multiples! Every time I see a collection like these I want to start one myself. You are on the way!

What a clever post - and I think you stack up just fine, Jann! It's better than having a stack in the basement, unused, like some of us (who shall remain nameless)!

Oh, how I envy the stacks. I love your starter stacks. I am tempted by the wicker stacks.

The fun is in creating the stack. If you had them all, you'd have to start on a new one!

I love the stacked suitcases. I have my dad's old suitcases in the attic. They are even monogrammed with his initials. I'd love to be able to stack them but they aren't flat. They taper off from top to bottom. I'd love to find a use for them!

LOL...If you don't stack up...then I must be falling way short...LOL. I've never had even one of these gorgeous things. I am so glad that you are on your way though.
I did just start collecting old dolls, and that is kind of fun.
Your post did put the first smile on my face this morning. Thank you for that.

Jann, I actually love your "short stacks". Some of those other ones are a little "too much of a good thing"! Happy Mother's Day!

I really must find a spot in my home to do this! I love it! Only I will have to add to my collection to get even a small stack! No Problem!

You clever girl! Such a cute post. I have one vintage suitcase I bought at a garage sale for $10. Some day maybe I'll be able to add to it, but for now it's a single pancake. Hah! XX ~ Nancy

Wonderful post and good advice to Mothers. Just starting a collection is a good thing as it gives you an excuse to look for more. What you have is beautiful.
