After being away for a week, even though I had a fabulous time, I found myself missing home.
Just like the birds returning for Spring. We feel most comfortable in our own nest.
Like a bird in a cage; we must spread our wings and adventure out every so often.
Rae Ann was a wonderful host, and her cabin was absolutely gorgeous. Still, at times; my thoughts would drift to my own home.
How is everybirdie getting along without me? Are they eating o.k.? Funny questions that go through a mother’s mind.
(little bird measuring cups are roosting on an old metal tray)
In a conversation with my husband he happily reported that he had delivered some keys left in my car to a neighbor and put the garbage out; but that he didn’t make the bed.
He loves to tease me, because I make my bed first thing in the morning.
Although my children are grown, I know that sometimes as mothers we’d like to put a dome over our kids and protect them from the hard things they might encounter.
We must remember that they need these experiences and we wouldn’t want to smother them!
It’s important for us to be good examples and help prepare them for the day when they will build their own nests.
No matter the size of our nest, it’s our home and we love it!
( I adore this sweet felted wool bird spoolie. A gift from a bog friend)
This is the spoolie I received from a swap in February. Isn’t it darling? Shipped all the way from the UK.
Right about now I’m thinking that I should fly back to Star Valley, WY. I came home to a house full of sickies and now I have a terrible sore throat and congested head.
I had so much on the agenda for this week. Looks like now I will just be resting in my nest.
Can’t wait to share some of the quilting I got done with you!
hugs,
Jann

It sounds like you had a nice trip, Jann. I often find myself thinking of home when I travel, too. :) I'm so sorry you're sick and hope you feel better soon!
Warm hugs,
Denise at Forest Manor
So glad that you had a good time on your visit to your friends home. I am also so glad to come home after a trip.
So sorry that you are sick and I hope that you are better soon. Take care of your self and just rest. Bet the birds are glad that you are back.

I know what you mean about being back in your own nest. No matter where we go or how much fun we have, there is simply no place like home. All of your bird themed spring nests are wonderful, Jann. That little spoolie is beautiful and the little felted bird on the spool is very pretty, too.
Too bad that everyone is sick. I hope they will get well soon and that you don't come down with anything. Stay happy and healthy, dear friend!
Isn't that the way it goes - First you can't wait to go do something, and then while you're there you think about being home and something you want to do back there! I hope you don't get too sick. It's that wonderful time of year when the temps keep fluctuating and it seems like the germs love it!
Jann
I hope you get well soon!
I enjoyed all your birdies and nest and also your true analogies.
There's no place like home.
Welcome back Jann :)
Glad you had a nice time!!
It is always great to be back home :)
I also haven't been round lately as I was busy moving my blog to WP

Glad you had a good trip, but I'm sorry you got sick. Sending healing wishes your way! :)
Sounds like you had a good trip...but it always feels good to be back home.

Hi Jann... sounds like you had a fun little getaway... sorry you came back sick though... love all of your nests and Spring things... oh, and I want to learn to make a quilt sooo bad!... there aren't any places that give lessons close by me, darnit, but I am going to buy some fat quarters (I think that's what they are called?) just because they are so beautiful!... xoxo Julie Marie
Love all the pretty spring things, Jann. Your thoughts about mothering and family are felt by many. It's hard to just turn it off! Hope you're feeling better quickly and can enjoy your week!

I hope you will join Sandy's Spring Spoolie Swap!
These pictures were quite inspiring. Lots of creativity! I miss my young children years sometimes. But, kindergarten keeps me busy!

LOL Your mantle is so sweet!! XOXO Love Fran.
Awe...enjoyed this post today. So glad you had a good time and yes, I like to go but there is no place like home! And....I make my bed first thing in the mornings too! My granny always said that if your bed was made then you felt somewhat like you had cleaned up! LOL! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Jann, you are so right...there IS no place like home, is there? Dorothy was so right! Even after a weekend I am usually ready to settle back in after being gone. I hope you feel better soon too...if I have to be sick, I'd rather be sick at home, wouldn't you?
I love the way your pictures match your lovely words! The Wizard of Oz is my favorite movie and maybe it's because there is no place like home! Love your cloche...I am desperately seeking one for my Spring decorating.
I'm glad you had some fun and I totally agree that there's no place like home. I love to travel but my trip home is always filled with anticipation of life back to normal. Your post is wonderful and I love your bird decor.
