Industrial is ‘IN’!

Hello my friends, hubby and I have just arrived home from a weekend get away.

Every February we head South to the St. George Home Shows. It’s our ‘Valentines’ get away.  We started doing this four years ago instead of giving each other gifts.  It’s always a nice break and the warmer weather is a welcome change!

Because I have been off galavanting I have missed out on visiting.  I will be by to say ‘hi’.

I already knew that the industrial look was ‘in’.  In fact, I recently purchased a table on wheels, (red wheels, I might add) to use somewhere in my basement.   Yup, not sure yet.  Do you ever do that?  Buy something because you love it even though you’re not sure where you will use it.  Please, please say ‘yes’!

One home was a hefty price of $2, 699.500.  Hubby and I thought about buying it, but held back. lol!

They titled it ‘Vintage Industrial’.  Although I don’t like all industrial, some pieces really do appeal to me.  I found this home to be so much fun.  There were plenty of other homes that had thrown in industrial looking pieces here and there.  Hope you enjoy these pics I snapped.

All of the lighting in this home was so unique.  This crazy fan was in their casita.  Loved it and also these sconces.  Notice cart #1.  Lots of homes had them.

IMG_0051

I also love these sliding barn doors that are so popular now.  I am so excited to get one in my craft room!  Guess what color?  Um, that would be mustard.

IMG_0053

This is not a great picture, but I had to show you.  The entire back of the great room and den was windows with a killer view.

IMG_0055

More industrial lighting.

IMG_0058

These had giant insulators for shades.

IMG_0060

How cool is this clock?

IMG_0056

They even added an industrial look to the bed.

IMG_0065

More lighting and I love the recycled wood ceiling.

IMG_0068

I thought this coat rack made from C clamps was a clever idea.

This is cart #2 in the same home.

IMG_0062

Now I’m going to show you some other carts I snapped.  See if you have a favorite.

#5.  This one wasn’t on wheels but still similar look.

There were a lot more, but I only took pics of the most unusual.

Do you like the industrial look?  The younger generation seem to be crazy about it.  I like some of it when it has a vintage style.

hugs,

Jann

I like some of the industrial lighting, and wouldn't mind a few pieces but not a whole house full.

I really do enjoy the industrial look, I have quite a few metal pieces and enjoy making things out of odds and ends. I love cart #3.

My husband has several of the wooden carts with wheels people are using for coffee tables at his shop. He thinks I am crazy!

I really like #4 I like the look but it would not be for me- unless in a very limited use. I love to see it in a loft type setting. xo Diana

Hi Jann,
Just gorgeous! This is really weird post because my husband and I stopped in a little town that we usually just drive through on our way back from taking the girls back to school and you won't believe this but the pub had the same fan as in your first photo and it was awesome we were so impressed with it! It had three sets of blades running with the cable across the bar area...Really stunning! Definitely Industrial!
All the Best,
Christine

Love the old wooden crates on wheels for as a coffee table. I also like some of the industrial lights too. But I wouldn't want a house full of only industrial stuff.

Cindy

I have to say I would pick cart # 2 because it would work the best in my home. I've thought about buying a few industrial pendants. Love to mix things up so I don't get stuck in decor troubles. Love the double doors too! xo Pam

Like you I like some of it, but not all. I like the piece with the yarn in it toward the end of your post.

I do like a little industrial...just a little. I would like to have a cart because they are so useful and can fit into any style and in any room of the home.

I am not IN to industrial but would make an exception for that last library table. Thanks for sharing.

My house isn't industrial modern, but I do like a piece here or there. The ceiling light made from insulators was something I'd like. I wish I had room for one of those carts!

Great idea for a Valentine getaway! I like industrial in small doses - the carts are all awesome! Can't wait to see your sliding barn door!

Thanks so much for the tour. Have to be honest.. The industrial look isn't my thing. It just feels and looks so cold to me.. Im more country home...I did however really like cart number 2 :)

What fun! I liked the bed, huge clock and the library table. The industrial look is not for me- there are items I think have visual appeal, but I know I would get tired of the metal details fairly quickly. The sliding doors are neat. It is always interesting to see different styles of decor, isn't it? Thanks for the tour,
Shawn

I like the rustic wood and some of the pieces, but I'm like you, gotta have me some "comfy". A little industrial mixed in is fun, too much and it feels cold. I'm like you, give me some pretty pillows!
