I’m Dreaming of Vintage White!

Thursday Miss Jenny will be having us study the letter D. My two words are Dreaming and Decorating.  I  have been decorating so much these last few days that not only do I decorate when I am awake, I find myself doing it in my dreams.

Anyone else do that?

For the past two years we have had a 7 1/2 ft. tree in our family room.  Our ceilings are so tall that even though I sat it on top of an antique washtub it just was too small.

Hubby and I bit the bullet and decided to buy a new 9 ft. tree.

It’s a bit hard to tell but it has snow, ice crystals, pinecones, and red berries.  PERFECT for my mercury glass bird themed tree.  I love it!

It is mainly white with a touch of red and turquoise.

I bought the slim tree because my family room isn’t  huge.  This pic is with the lights on.

No presents yet, that will change in a hurry.

I pulled a few bird items that I had and stuck in amongst the branches.

I had the nests, but the blue birds are new.

Here are a few other vintage type ornaments.

I have a few of these bell clusters poked in here and there.  I love how they hang.

Add some dried limelight hydrangeas,

A couple of birdcages,

A few red cardinals,

A sweet note about a birds nest,

A message for the world to see,

IMG_4428

This sign was the only thing my hubby didn’t like about the tree. It is a bit large, but I wired it in, so for this year at least; it’s staying.

And last of all, a star on top.

IMG_4430

I love how you see the bare branches of the tree through the window.

Even though my tree isn’t truly vintage, it gives me the feel of an old fashioned Christmas. How I cherish my childhood memories.

I hope you’ll take time today to reflect upon Christmas Past.

Happy Holidays!

Jann

Hi Jann,

What a lovely new Christmas tree!!
Love all of that snow and red berries too!
Nice colour theme as well. Your mercury ornaments are just gorgeous. Your tree must really shine at night. I love to sit in front of the tree at night with all of the lights off and just the glow from the tree on... Cuddled up in front of the fireplace...It is perfect when it snows at the same time.. I like the look out at the top of your window a birds eye view...
All the Best,
Christine

It's so pretty Jann! I bought a tall skinny tree a couple of years ago too, because our living room where we put it, is kind of small. Once you get the whole family and all the presents...it gets claustrophobic! I haven't even begun to decorate yet!!

Jann,
My apologies in my last comment as I saw that you did see my Kitchen!!
This is an absolutely stunning tree....
I love the decorations on it and I love the tree itself with the snow and ice crystals!!
I would love to use the spray flocking on my Dining Room tree or spary paint it as another blogger did. Of course this will have to be for next year as the tree is already up for this year.
Can't wait to see more...
I will be posting my Living Room soon so I hope you will stop by as my Home Tour continues...

Hugs,
Deb

I love the idea of a vintage Christmas as long as we don't get vintage weather to go with it!

Love your tree - very vintage and elegant. We always try to find a very tall, slim tree as our great room ceiling goes up almost 20 feet. Getting up on ladders is becoming iffy, but maybe a few more years...

Your tree looks just right for your room, and beautifully decorated.

So far, we haven't even thought about whether we will drag our old one out of the garage or go 'real'.

What a delightfully gorgeous tree!

I love the colors and sparkle! This is really a designers delight!

I'm envious.

Next year I think I need to break down and get a different tree. I'll have to remember to look after Christmas is over!

Thanks for linking!
