It’s a Cover Up!

On any given day if you enter into my family room it’s most likely you will see this.

My red leather sofa and loveseat with blue, green, red, and a bit of mustard pillows and matching ottoman.

Now, it’s not a bad thing, I even special ordered the ottoman and pillows after seeing them in a Home Show.  However, sometimes with my seasonal décor I find the design to be a bit busy.

I also like changing out my pillows now and then.

Look at these wool cuties I got for a steal.  Literally, well no I didn’t steal them, but I paid $15.99 each.  They were originally $79.99.  Yes, I said $79.99.  After all, they are all wool.  If you sew with wool at all, you know how pricey it is. I could not have even bought the wool to make them for that price.

After seeing all of the drop cloth creations out there in blog land I decided it was time to do a cover up.  One that can be thrown on whenever I want, but easily washed.

Here it is in all it’s glory.I didn’t want it to be too ruffled because this is not a frilly room. What do you think?

I have a cute red tray that sits on it, but I forgot to put it back on for the pic.

Now I need your help.  Notice how the bottom puddles?  I left the selvage edge and just turned it under. Should I leave it like this or hem it so that it barely touches the floor.  Your opinion would be greatly appreciated.

I’m showing you a few more views.  I already have puddled burlap curtains.  Too much puddling?

And an over all picture.  Sorry about the reflections.

Isn’t it wonderful that we can look to fellow bloggers for advice?  Love, love that about blogging!

Look, I found a pic with my tray.  Just holding magazines right now.  Notice the front and back side of my quilt?  It’s my favorite snuggle up to watch T.V. or look at a magazine quilt.  It has a Minky back. Awwww!

Can’t wait to hear what you have to say about my cover up!

Jann

I love it because it matches your curtains. Nice to have a change and be a bit daring now and then. I get lots of help from bloggers too. It's great. Love it.

Great find on the pillows. The ottoman looks great..hey, my husband is a painter and has drop cloths! But wait mine would look more like a Jackson Pollock drop cloth cover!

Okay......I LOVE the wool pillow! LOVE it! You are so right, to buy the wool and make it, it would have cost far more. GREAT find. Plus, it gives just the right pop for your room. I LOVE that you slipcovered the ottoman. I have been wanting to do a drop cloth project too. I also love a puddled curtain. And if your ottoman primarily stays put, I would leave it just like that. OR, you could tye a bit of cording or some such trim to sort of tuft, or tuck it up a bit too. I love the new look. So pretty!!!!

I really like the new look of your ottoman. You certainly got a steal on those wool pillows.

Hi Jann,
Love the new pillows, what a steal!
The slipcover on the ottoman looks great, I think the gathering of the skirt is just perfect. I would take up the hem to show the feet of the ottoman, that is if it has nice feet? Or have the hem just touch the floor and that's it! I like the puddling of your curtains, I think of them to be more of the focal...and that beautiful red leather couch & loveseat!! They have beautiful feet... I do like the red tray on the ottoman as well! Oh well, I hope this helps!
All the Best,
Christine

Hello Jann,
I think the table cover looks lovely puddled like that. It is a nice match with the same effect on your drapes.
Your new wool pillow is so fab! What a bargain!

Terri

Love it Jann! You are so clever.

Jann I voted the other day when I was there. I like it puddled. Knowing you though, you will keep it like that and when you get tired of it you will hem it. That's my friend Jann for you.

Hi- Thanks for coming by my blog today! Your ottomon cover looks great. How about a red braided cord going around it about 6 or 8 inches from the seam to cinch it up. It may help hold it in place and bring the bottom up a tad.

Hi Again!

I think that covering the ottoman is a good idea... I am going to do that too. I will be covering the Wedgwood Blue checked wing back settee (like your green chair) and rectangular ottoman with heavy painters cloth.

I have a few of those same 'garden' pillows with blue script... two square ones and one long one, but it is smaller than yours.

I like your painted pieces :)
