Crafting Christmas. . .

Yesterday my friend, Ann and I visited a few local shops to see their Christmas displays.

It has been unusually warm here lately and it was hard to imagine that in just a couple of weeks we would be decorating for the season.

When we left it was raining slightly, but by the time we returned home the ground was blanketed with snow and after all of the inspiration we were feeling the Christmas spirit.

Today I decided to do a little Christmas crafting. . .

First I made this holly garland to drape between my lights hanging over my island.

It was really fun and easy.  I bought the paper kit at Pebbles.  It was $14.99, which I thought was a little over priced.  I had a $5 off coupon so I decided to buy it.

IMG_8501IMG_8503

I sewed two pieces of scrapbook paper together alternating berries and leaves.  Then I bent them to make the leaves and berries dimensional.

It’s about 18 feet long.  Here it is laying on my sewing room floor before making it dimensional.

Next I decided to make a shadow box.  I bought the box last year at Hobby Lobby (on sale of course) and never got around to doing it.

Fun, fun, fun!

I pulled out a few vintage treasures and papers and just went for it‘

IMG_8505

Here’s a few close ups.  I printed the cute postcard from The graphics fairy and then gave it a touch of glitter here and there.  A few red gems for berries and a crocheted flower gave it vintage charm.

IMG_8506

A purchased time card, bakers twine, and a jingle bell help to make things jolly.

IMG_8511

I had a baggie full of little vintage trinkets that I bought at a boutique a couple years ago.  Don’t you love those buttons?  The cute white piece and the velvet ribbon were amongst the goodies.

IMG_8508

Again the Santa came from the Graphics Fairy, Gotta love that gal! I punched little holly leaves and created the wreath.  Rub-on’s from my scrapbook stash added some holiday greetings.

IMG_8507

The reindeer was an extra one I cut with my SIL’s vagabond for another project we are working on.  I just gave him a coat of glitter.  The wire piece was off of something that I used for my Christmas calendar a couple years ago.  Glad that I hung on to it.

IMG_8512

Plastic vintage flowers, a pearl, and a glitter ring circling the big day.

IMG_8510

Every now and then it does the body (and mind) good to create.

And look what we woke up to this morning.

How could I not be in the Christmas mood?

Jann

Your crafties are SO SO CUTE, Jann!

I really love the garland - it would even look awesome in plain colours I bet - even brown kraft paper!

As for your snow - WOW now today we could be in shorts and tees - very warm high 70s and this is OHIO when it is usually realllly cold this time of year.

Was so cute, hubs and I went out to dinner early today - we had both skipped lunch and were starving - and when we were driving through town we saw a beautiful bridge and groom with their entire wedding party walking through town and went into Jeni's ice cream store, it was just so different, we laughed....but THAT'S how warm it was today! LOL

Hugs.

Well...you go girl! It will be here before we know it. I'm not there yet as I'm spending the weekend raking and burning leaves in 70 degree weather which is unusual.

I really love the shadow box. The flower, buttons and button card added a nice 3d effect. Between all the great scrapbooking papers and online graphics, crafting has really changed.

Cute garland. I can never say enough about the uses of post cards in crafting, just love them. Love your embelishments. I have been scanning my postcards and putting them on Pinterest so others can use them for crafts.

Both crafts turned out wonderful- and even snow to go with it! We've had one light snow. I always forget how well it brightens things up!

I had to smile at the garland...it's like grownup paper chains! :) We always used to make paper chains when I was little and this reminded me of that. Everything's cute ...and look at that snow!

Well, after two weeks of cold and rain we are drying out and today if is Indian Summer...going to be 70 degrees ! Keep your snow :)
