Pick Yer Punkin!

Yesterday was a gorgeous day and hubby and I spent a good portion of it in the garden.  The rest of the day was spent cleaning our garage.

I did a lot of cutting back, pulling out, and harvesting.

Time to Pick Yer Punkin!

IMG_2371

What’s your choice?  Fat ones, skinny ones, short ones, tall ones?

IMG_2376

How about color?

Light orange, dark orange, creamy white, white, or even green?

IMG_2374

IMG_2378

I think that the creamy white ones crossed over with the orange pumpkins.  They were on the same vine as the pure white.

The green pumpkins are going to get a coat of black spray paint and will be used in my b&w vignettes.

Most of them are medium to small sized.  But look at this tall skinny one.  I love it!

IMG_2375

This is where my pumpkins were harvested from.  Planted beneath my roses.  As you can see, I also pulled out the Zinnias that were planted in front of the fencing.

Getting the garden ready for Winter.  Tomatoes are still producing.  I am always so sad to see them come to an end!

IMG_2379

Just something about pumpkins that makes me smile.

Don’t you love them?

hugs,

Jann

I love home grown pumpkins. I had a pumpkin vine that was circling the yard - lots of blooms but no pumpkins then finally one was growing and my friend who worked in a garden nursery said that's no pumpkin - its a water melon and you better pick it. So I did and put in on the table, well it was a pumpkin because it started turning orange and the rotted. I was a little peeved that I listed to someone who doesn't even have a garden. That's what I get.

Have a great week - I am so sorry to see the veggies go.

We usually get some pumpkins growing out of the compost but this year they are all vine and blooms no pumpkins. I love them all! I picked my green tomatoes - frost warning. I love the scent of the plants and the tomatoes - even when they are green. Such a spicey earthy scent.

Great pumpkins Jann! You must have a green thumb to get such a nice harvest of them. My favorite are the pumpkin pie pumpkins, short squatty and with a cool "handle" on them. Funny how we have a favorite. But we all do. Your tall skinny one is fabulous!
Have a great week!

I love the variety of colors and sizes! I spent my day gardening yesterday, also. Wasn't the weather glorious? No pumpkins here, however, just a lot of trying to re-seed my grass over a few bald patches. Enjoy your week! :) --Fran

Oh my Jann ... what a harvest. Beautiful pumpkins and to think you grew them. I had a vine come up in the compost, but just leaves and no fruit. Maybe I should try to grow them next year. You will have fun decorating with all of those. I love them all.
