Tuesdays Tour. . .A Ride up American Fork Canyon

Hello my friends, it’s been a few weeks since I shared a ‘Tuesday’s Tour’ post with you.

One night after work we decided to grab a bucket of KFC and head up American Fork Canyon.  We wanted to catch the Autumn splendor before it was too late.  Why not enjoy an outdoor picnic while we’re at it?

(this one was taken just before dusk)

Well, let me tell you; 50 million other people (exaggerating of course)  had the same idea.

The canyon was packed!  So much so that you could not stop and take some of the gorgeous shades of red and orange that were in the lower part of the canyon.  Still there were some beautiful sites!

I am always amazed at the beauty of this glorious earth!

I loved this pop of gold amongst the green pines as the sun started to set.

Remember, this was in the evening.  Can you imagine how brilliant these would be with the sun shining on them?

There’s gold in them there hills!  Why is it always so fun saying that? lol!  Not sure what that puff of what looks like smoke is.

(me taking a picture of our daughter, Kylee taking a picture)

Kylee decided to have a little fun.  We thought it was a cute photo.  Apparently another lady did also.  A complete stranger took a picture of her as well.

Golden Oldies.  Hee-hee!

Okay now prepare yourself for what I’m about to show you.

Let me set the scenario.

I saw a large field of golden foliage.

Me to hubby:  Video me while I frolic (skip) through this field. *In my mind this was going to be all “Sound of Music’ like.  You know, the hills are alive?

Kylee:  I’ll frolic (skip) with you.

Me: Okay

Before you view this video let me tell you three things I learned:

1.  NEVER try frolicking (skipping) in flip flops (especially in a bumpy field)

2.  61 year old chubby ladies don’t frolic!  And they certainly can’t jump up and click their hills.

3.  If you try to frolic, come prepared for the laughter that will certainly follow and wear Depends!

Frolicking in the Canyon Blooper

Telling it like it is!

At least the Autumn Foliage didn’t disappoint.

hugs,

Jann

Every day I count my blessings for living near these beautiful mountains. It never ceases to amaze me that we are only ten minutes drive from the entrance to the canyon. I never feel secure being away from the Wasatch...the mountains make me feel safe and watched over.

Oh, the colours are just beautiful there Jann. I enjoyed seeing the beauty in your part of the world. I also enjoyed seeing you frolicking in the meadow. LOL You are a good sport and I'm glad you didn't fall down! The trees in the background are so pretty all golden. Have a great day! Pam

Too funny! I can tell you were having fun in the video. Hubby & I were riding our ATVs above Midway on Saturday and went over the top into American Fork Canyon a ways - there wasn't as much color where we were, but maybe you went a bit earlier than us? We saw lots of deer hunters cuz it was opening day. Love this time of year.

So gorgeous! Your video is so cute! At least you attempted skipping, something I can't even do anymore!! Our leaves locally are not so colorful so we drove a 1/2 hour to beautiful Naples, NY at the end of Canandaigua Lake. Gorgeous, especially when the sun shone (which it didn't much). Maybe next year we'll get more color out my front door.

Jann,
Your photos are fantastical! So beautiful are those shots captured and now enjoyed by those that will not get to see such colors where they live. I'm sure you and your daughter will always remember your frolic in the Aspens....as you should! Happy Fall...

Thanks for sharing the beautiful Fall colors in your area. Seeing very little of it here right now, but that is normal for this area.
Loved the video! I would not attempt to skip with or without flip flops! LOL
KFC sounds good - have not had any in ages.

I love the colors. It is slow in coming here in the area of Oregon where I live. I love seeing the brilliant colors and hope to get some! That was so funny when you "frolicked" with your daughter. I think I would also look a bit clumsy as well! But it is fun to have fun!

I loved this! The foiliage didn't disappoint, and neither did you. That was adorable! Clearly, you were having a blast, and who said you're chubby and can't click your heels? Could have fooled me!

The photos are spectacular, and I have to say that just today I got some pretty good ones myself. Mother Nature certainly gives us lots of opportunities this time of year!
