Puttin on the Glitz. . .Easter Village

Hello my friends,
Today I'm sharing my Easter village that I gave you a little sneak peek of in the
Hello Spring Blog Tour

We created these in our craft group last week.

When Karen suggested that we make an Easter village I was all in!  What's not to love about houses that glitter?

She bought the houses at Hobby Lobby.  The medium house costs $4.99 and the small was $3.99.  Although sometimes you can get them for 50 off.  If not, be sure to use the 40 percent coupon on one of them.  :)

Then she spray painted them in the colors of our choice.  A few of the gals chose a yellow one, and it was darling!

If you spray them all white first and then the color it will be
easier to cover.

She brought them all painted on a long board.  Over 20 houses and it was quite a sight.  Why didn't I think to snap a photo?

Yup, she did the majority of the work for us!

This is the stuff that makes them magical!  We simply brushed a small area at a time with modge podge, using a sponge brush and sprinkled.  She came prepared and brought us a shirt box to place our houses in to glitter.  Then we could dump the excess glitter back into the bottle.  She's a clever lady!

Now, let the magic begin!  When it comes to creating a fun village it's all about the details. . .

The little things that catch your eye and draw you in.  Like a baby chick in the yard, or the pet duck tied up to a fence post.

A bunny here or there frolicking in the garden.

Little peeps peeking out. . .

fuzzy bunnies and trees.  Oh yes, lots of trees!!  My friend, Joanne taught me the how to's and I shared how to create them in

When I spied this little wheelbarrow amongst Aunt Bunnies treasures, (the estate I'm helping with); I knew it was mine!

Karen provided a few goodies for us to add to our village.  The two bunnies in the previous photo, the picket fence, and the supplies to make this darling topiary tree.

Joanne had lots of little trinkets to share.  The cute boy bunny is sliding down the pole to meet his gal.

Placing some of your houses on cake stands takes them to a whole other level.  Literally, (wink).

Don't be afraid to add some larger figures.  Over exaggeration is what makes it magical.  You wouldn't expect anything less in an Easter Wonderland!

Then after you've gotten up close and personal.  Developed a relationship with each little critter. . .stand back and take it all in.

It's hard to tell in the photo, but the grass matt is sparkly.  I bought it at the Thanksgiving Point Emporium shop.  Sadly it has since closed.  Things were a bit pricey, but so fun to visit and they would often have sales.

(originally I thought I would doll the houses up more,  but then I decided I liked them just
 sweet and simple)

Just something about a little village that make me ever so happy!

hugs,
Jann

I will be sharing with these fun parties:

Jann, your home is always in a state of change . . . does your husband ever come home and think he's in the wrong house? LOL. Your Easter table is adorable and those little houses are so cute. I'll just bet that you girls have a great time creating together . . . I can almost hear the laughter :) Such a sweet way to make lasting friendships.

Oh Jann, I love your little houses and all the great wonderful critters that go with them. You did an outstanding job. Are the houses cardboard or metal?

I had a Easter Village that was plaster that you painted. Some were Egg houses and some different. It was such fun painting them. Well it got to be to much to set them up in a table scape so silly me, I gave them away and the lady has them stored or packaged away and she is a hoarder, so they will never see daylight. I hate it when I do something STUPID.

I love yours and maybe I will go to Hobby Lobby and get some. I love to pain all the statuary and used to do a lot. But, like everything else it went out of style and couldn't find the statuary anymore.

I just love yours - great job my friend.

Have a terrific weekend.

Hugs,
Mary

Oh, how magical. So many pretties to catch one's breath. Sweet, sweet little bunnies to be seen everywhere. May I come and rest awhile in your whimsical Easter village....I don't take up much room. =)

Oh Jann, how absolutely adorable. I'm trying to cutdown on stuff to store---so I will have to pass on these, but may have to make one tiny one or two as gifts. So cute, thanks for the fun share, Sandi

I am completely enchanted! This is so much fun and they're so pretty! I love the tips you shared (the shirt box is inspired). I have a house I bought several years ago to glitz up for Christmas and never have. Now I'm thinking maybe I'll make an Easter one. OK -- I'm overloaded on Easter decs but not nearly so much so as Christmas -- and I do have all those dyed trees from crafting past!

I love that you have a group that works together. In addition to making something so pretty it must be loads of fun!
