Ringing in the New Year!

Hello my friends,
do you have plans to help 'RING' in the New Year?
We will be having dinner and playing games at our home with some of our friends.
I have been putting my Christmas décor away and I wanted to decorate my mantle for the new year.
I was tidying my craft room the other day when I came across this 'Jack and Jill' kids magazine.

It's one that I saved from the estate sale I helped host,
to give to my sister, Jeanne.
"1952" is the year she was born.  It became the inspiration for my mantle theme.  :)
Oh yes, I will gift it to her. . .but I'm sure she won't mind if I borrow it for a while.

I loved the bells on the cover and I got to thinking, that I have quite a few vintage bells.

I placed this white honeycomb bell on a small cake plate and draped my bell garland across the front of the mantle.

I picked this giant clipboard with the double clips up at our local thrift for $5 a few years ago.  It's been sitting in my craft room waiting patiently to be put to use.  (wink)

I modge podged sheets of French music to the back and glittered some letters in blue and gold.

I had a small box of these white plastic bells.  They were another thrift find.  I strung them on jute twine and then draped it back and forth across the clipboard.

Using clothespins I clipped a few postcards to the edge.

I had a sweet January figurine of a girl blowing a horn.  I knew she would get lost on the mantle so I decided to place her inside an old clock I had.

I removed the clock face and gave it one coat of Annie Sloan 'Old White' chalk paint.
Using glue dots I adhered a clock face to the back and placed her inside.  Isn't she so sweet?

And what did I do with the clock face?  Added Modge Podge around the edge and sprinkled it with gold glitter.

The little plate is for a silver anniversary, I'm sure; but it works.

I added a bit of height with an old Readers Digest book and a couple spools of vintage ribbon.

The plastic horns came from the estate sale as well.

I have this cute moon so I hung it from one end.  I also hung a couple of large bells from the other end, but took the photo before.

We'll be having fun 'Ringing in the New Year!

I do need to add something where the bell garland wouldn't quite make it to the other end a second time.  Either that or just move the nails in a little.  Truth be told, it may or may not happen.  lol!

Happy New Year!
Jann

I'll be joining these fun parties:

Your mantle is amazing. Your vintage looking decor absolutely charming. You should make some of those boards with such charm and sell them! Truly charming.

It just amazes me that you have all these wonderful things in your stash! Clearly, I don't collect things in the way that I should. You always make me want to go shopping, Jann. :)

I applauded your energy . . . after Christmas, I just don't have the go power to decorate again for New Year's. Your vintage New Year's decorations are adorable and I really like the blue, white and silver color scheme, it looks so cold and wintry:)
Happy New Year!
Connie :)

Fun mantle for New Years Eve.
No, we aren't doing anything special for New Year's Eve. Its Sunday and we will be at church just like any other Sunday night.

What a fun New Year's mantle! I'll go "winter" (versus Christmas) in a day or two -- but I love the NY theme!

Happy New Year!
Such clever uses for random items! I especially like the little figurine girl with the horn, placed inside the newly renovated mantle clock. The inventive collective use of each piece created a whimsical engaging theme!
