I Got Bamboozled?

Last Friday my sister, Julie and a friend, Dolly came up from the Price area for a visit.  They don’t have many places to shop down there, so they always have a list of ‘places to go’ whenever they arrive.

And you know me, being the person that hates shopping, it’s always a bother. LOL!

First on the list was a place we call ‘Train Wreck’.  It’s a discount store that you NEVER know what you’re going to find.  The real name is NPS.  Stands for National something or other.  My oldest sister, JoAnne says it means, “Nice Place to Shop”.  Whatever you call it, it’s a great treasure hunt!

I spied these bamboo place mats at $1.99 each.  Wouldn’t you know, they only had six.  Two red, two green, one orange, and one natural.

I thought that they might be a nice addition to the Thanksgiving table.

Just experimenting here, so the table is not complete.

I pulled out my red wooden chargers and placed a white large plate and my toile turkey plates atop.

On the ends I placed my more colorful turkey plates. One atop orange and one on green.  What do you think of the glasses?  Not quite right.  They do have a cute saying “Family Memories are Made of This” around the top of the stripe.  They are a dollars store find two years ago.

My cabbage leaf pitcher was a gift from my friend, Susan.  She also gave me a bowl to match.

I am happy with my centerpiece.  My friend, Ann gave me the cupboard door made into a tray for my birthday.

I love the mixture of the bejeweled and rustic fruit.

My large acorn,

and mini pumpkin candles.

The sentiments on these plates define what Thanksgiving is all about!

The candelabra is a recent purchase.  Love adding a bit of turquoise.  After all, my island is painted that color.

I love to do stitchery, so I have to throw a little of that in also.

My pumpkin pie pin cushion topped with cream is too cute to eat!

So what do you think?  Do you like the bamboo place mats, or did I get BAMBOOZLED into buying them?

First let me say, I love toile..so your plates are simply fabulous to me! I think your table setting is just beautiful! Having four kids, we do not do formal at all. I have a lovely set of china handed down from my parents...still boxed up from when they gifted it to me. Maybe when the children are older we'll be able to take it out without worrying about breakage. For now, Chinette it is!

I love the look! Now all you need is the food:) I don't think you got bamboozled at all. I need to make a trip your way soon so you can take me to that store...sounds like fun! Have a great week Jann.

Hi Jann,

Your Thanksgiving table is beautiful!
I like the added texture the bamboo brings to the table... Those turkey plates are really nice...
What a steal...just think how nice they would be out on the patio in the summer as well!
All the Best,
Christine
