Professional Shopper?

Hi my friends.  Just wondering?  Has anyone ever told you that you could be a professional shopper?

Not sure if there really is such a thing, but if anyone out there is hiring, I’m in!

The funniest thing happened to me yesterday.  Every time I think about it, a smile appears on my face.

I met up with my sister, Jeanne to look at lights, paint chips, etc.  After spending a couple of hours together we parted ways.  On my way to meet hubby to catch a movie  I decided that I would swing by our local D.I. (thrift store).

After snatching up some fun goodies I got in line to pay.  the woman behind me first spotted this sweet little table that I had in the top of my cart.  wondering if it really is a piano bench, but it seems a little high.

She said, “that is such a neat table”.  I replied, “Isn’t it cute?  Especially after I give her a coat of paint.”  She then proceeded to look into my cart.  She replied, “Oh my, you should be a professional shopper.”  “You found all the best things”.  Like I said, not sure if there’s such a profession, but what a dream job that would be.  I’m sure if you asked my hubby he would say that I am already a professional shopper.  But for some uncanny reason I don’t get paid.

Now, I know that you are just dying to see ‘all the best things’!

The first thing I ran across were these sweet blue and white dishes.  They say Pier 1  made in Italy on the back.  Just a few,  (2 plates, 1 salad plate, and 1 bowl) but a cute addition to my  soon to be farmhouse (basement) kitchen.

Then I checked out the collectibles.  Nothing there so I thought I was walking away with just those.  Heading up another isle I spied these white ironstone mugs.  Cute, cute with the blue & white!

And look what jumped out at me from an end cap.  Sweet saucers.  I love mismatched dishes.  Also found this little wooden trivet and another old rolling pin to add to my collection.

Then I headed out to the area called, ‘the yard’.  Spied the sweet table.  How could I go home without it?

All in all it was a fun shopping day.  Professional or not! Hee-hee!

Oh, and I forgot to mention.  All those goodies only set me back $27.  That didn’t include the tray.  I already had that.  Thought if I was going to be a professional shopper that I had better be a professional stager. lol!

Just remember, if you are ever in need of a professional shopper, I’m your gal!

Jann

So funny . . . just last week at our local Value Village the woman in line behind me looked in my cart and said, "Wow, you have a good eye". Maybe I'll start watching the want ads for professional shopper too! Thanks for sharing, Patti@OldThingsNew

Yep, I do think you're a professional shopper! I think you got your diploma today. Fantastic finds! Those plates were sold at Pier One around 1995. A friend of mine bought a whole set one day when we were out shopping. I could kick myself that I didn't pick up a few. I did buy some blue and white that day, but not those. I think she still uses them. I love the mix and match style, too. But, you already know that, don't you?

Nice finds! Nice table - looking forward to seeing what you do with it. The legs are to thin to be a bench.
Hope you are enjoying your weekend.

I think you could definitely get the job done! I don't know why but our thrifts have nothing in them (worth bringing home) since before Christmas. Where are the goods?!

There are professional shoppers. Matter of fact, I have seen a couple of blogs where the gals do just that- shop for stores for resale/redoing. Also, Applebees has professional shoppers that pick out the stuff to decorate their stores- Good luck-maybe you can find a job! Love all your finds, too. xo Diana

Lots of people hate shopping and aren't good at it. Most of my decorating clients paid me to go shopping for them and a couple of them had me do their Christmas gift buying as well! You're a natural.

I was in our Goodwill the other day. I only had 20 minutes, but I wanted some plates to photograph food on for my blog when I have a recipe. I found some good things, but I was wishing I had someone with some vision along with me to see things that could be repurposed.

I have a set of blue and white salad dishes--all different. One of them is from the set you got.

I'mv visiting through Sunny Simple Life Sunday Link Up.

Love the blue and white - especially those white cups. I have started thrifting with a friend and I am slowly but surely getting better at spotting "the good stuff". Lucky for me, she's quick and now that she knows what I like - she seems to find as much for me as I do myself!

Very cool thrifts Jann!! Yes there are professional shoppers who get paid!! I thought about it at one time myself. Alot of businsses or weathly people have you do it for them at Christmas time. I would love to buy but then you can't decorate the way you want to after you get it for them!! Darn it. LOL Can't wait to see your farmhouse craft space!! XOXO Love Fran.

I have heard of professional shoppers. There are a few types. Some do shopping for those too busy themselves, usually for Christmas, anniversaries, birthdays and such. Then sometimes people want a shopper who is also a decorator to get things for their homes when they move or want to redecorate. They will give the shopper an idea of their tastes, colors, etc. and the shopper gets items and stages to see what the person who hired them likes of it all.
That would be fun but difficult.

You did very well! :)

Wouldn't that be a fun job? I wonder if professional shoppers get to keep the purchases.
