Count Down to Spring. . .

Well my friends,

In less than a week Spring will officially be here.

If you are like me and spring is your favorite season, I'm sure you find yourself counting the days.

I was scrolling through my photos, and found some that I took last spring, but didn't end up sharing.

They made me so anxious for what is soon to come.

We have a rock wall that spans the length of our back yard and 3/4 on one side.

I love it, but it can be quite stark if left as is.  I had planned on posting about the trailing plants that I have used to soften the wall.

This Salvia is planted close to the edge.

I've planted lots of  sweet 'steppables' amongst
the rocks in our firepit.
Not only do they add color, but

they also help to keep the soil between the rocks

from washing away.

The basket of gold puts on a show every year.

Last year our winter was so mild that everything bloomed about a month earlier than usual.  This year we had snow on the ground for months.  It will be interesting to see if it makes a big difference.

I've also added steppables amongst the flagstone path leading into the back yard.

The sweetest tiny blooms!

These Violas reseed every year and come up randomly along the edge of the flagstone.

Soon the herb and shade garden will be full and lush.

I am always amazed at what beauty our gardens bring to us in just a short time.

I thank the Lord for the joy it brings to me.

Yup, I'm counting the days till Spring!

hugs,
Jann

Loved your photos! Happy, happy spring! My daffodills have been popping for awhile now. Lots of nesting birds are busy here. And something special --- I have six new baby chicks. My rooster is sterile; he hasn't been a daddy yet, and he's already two years old. So I purchased these babies, three Araucanas and three golden-laced Wyandottes. They are being raised in our new "chicken mansion," where only fresh air and sunshine and their mama can get in. My one-year old hen Charlene has been in there for a couple of weeks now. (The rooster picked on her, so I moved her for her comfort and safety.) Ahh, spring. Love it so! Have a blessed day.

I can't wait to get out and did in the dirt...It's been such a wet stormy winter this year I'm not sure my garden will ever dry out. Your pictures just make me want to get out there more...your place is lovely!

Oh, Jan! Your Springtime garden will be filled with lovely color very soon. Your 'steppables' add such a nice, soft touch as they bloom amongst the rocks. Springtime is also my favorite season in our Midwest garden! Yesterday our first blossoms opened ~ miniature irises and crocus. I *might* have done a little, happy dance right in the garden! :) Happy almost Springtime! ♡

You have such a beautiful garden, Jann! I heard that snow is a good fertilizer so perhaps this year your blooms will be even more profuse?

We have had a warmer than usual winter here on the front range of Colorado, but I know we will have a couple more snowfalls before spring truly arrives, Until then I have to admire the warmer climates flower gardens.

Hey Jann! Wow! What a gorgeous garden you had last year. Love those little steppables. Didn't realize they bloomed. Can't wait to see what you do this year. I've been cleaning beds and trimming perennials. The grass is greening up and bulbs are poking through the dead leaves. I'm so over winter. Have fun, Spring in less than a week!!!

Your garden is just beautiful. It must bring a smile to your face every year (despite the work involved).

I think the violas do a great job of earning their keep year after year.

Oh, Jann, how gorgeous!! I love the charm of your garden, it practically shouts "beautiful cottage!" It is so HOT where I live and the dirt is clay...cultivating (and maintaining) is challenging. You have done such a beautiful job!
