A Golden New Years Mantle

Hello my friends and Happy New Year!

I have never been a lover of gold.  In fact, even my wedding ring was white gold.  Yes, I say was because I lost it years ago.  Hubby offered to buy me a new one, but I've never been a fan of rings. May have something to do with my short fat fingers.  :) So I said, not to worry.

But when it comes to my New Years mantle, I am
'going for the GOLD'!

I started with the left side of the mantle where I placed a glass cake plate with a gold scalloped edge.  A couple years ago I sprayed some bottles gold for a bridal shower my daughter was hosting.  They were perfect for this mantle.  I filled one with two golden sprays picked up at Hobby Lobby after Christmas for 66% off.  I hung clock images that I had printed and glittered for New Years a few years ago

The gold bottles got dressed up with cute paper bows snagged in Hobby Lobby's clearance section.  Because, who doesn't like to get dressed up for New Years? (wink)

One jar is filled with tassel picks from Targets dollar spot and the other holds fun straws that I already had on hand.

When it comes to New Year décor, clocks are a must for me. The older, the better!

Clocks in a variety of sizes and colors.
The pearls of wisdom bottle was a take home favor for a bridal shower I hosted.

The right side of the mantle is getting it's 'party' on!  The polka dot cones were actually for treats.  I got them on clearance at Home Goods.  I turned them into hats by adding tassels to the top and making a crepe paper ruffle.  One lucky clock gets to wear a
party hat.

I just received the swan as a Christmas gift and I loved it so much that I wanted to leave it out.  Then I remembered that I had a little golden swan that I had picked up at a thrift shop.  They represent smooth gliding into the New Year.

I sprayed my red berry wreath gold and added a clock face in the middle.  Another Hobby Lobby clearance score.

Have you figured out that I love Hobby Lobby clearance?  Yup, I check it out every time I go there.  I found four glitter letters marked down to $.24 cents each.  I cut them into '2017'.  The two is a bit funky, but it works.

The dotty garland and little envelopes. . .clearance items as well.

It's really a simple, quick, and easy garland.  With everything else that's going on with the mantle I think it's enough.

I hope '2017' will be golden for all of you!!

hugs,
Jann

ps- I mixed the green paint for my table from greens and blues I had on hand, so I don't have a paint color to give you. Sorry!

Well, you know I am in love with your clocks!

I had to settle for paper plates to get my clock fix this year.

Hi Jann, I love the idea of a golden-themed New Year's mantel! Using all the old clocks for as a symbol for the New Year is a cool decorating idea as well.
I didn't like gold either, but something is changing... I actually covet a golden flatware set. In terms of jewelry I still don't like to wear warm toned gold, but white gold is fine with me.
Thanks for hosting the "Share Your Cup" blog party! I enjoy participating!
Wishing you a wonderful New Year 2017!
Warm regards,
Christina
