Isn't it Grand!!

The Grand America hotel is located in the heart of Salt Lake City, UT.  At Christmas time it becomes 'magical'!

The name Grand America is perfect for this hotel because every chandelier they have is just, well; grand!

At the grand you can attend a Christmas tea or have breakfast with Santa.  Many however just go there to see the décor or to shop at the shops.  A lot of companies hold their Christmas parties there.  We go there almost every year to attend my husbands work party.  This year however, it was hosted in Provo.

One of the most talked about attractions is the large
gingerbread house.

I loved this bit of information.

A closer look and you will see that the windows are framed in Rice Krispy treats.  All of the lightly colored places in the previous photos are krispy treats as well.

Even the path is paved with those sweet treats held together with marshmallows and butter.

Of course I love those giant mushrooms!

So, if my husband's Christmas party wasn't held at the Grand, what took us there?

A visit to the toy store.

The window displays always intrigue those walking by.

(this is a marble contraption)

And , "NO" I was not shopping at the Grand for my grands.  I was shopping for myself.

Look what came home with me.

Meet Henry, my new Maileg pixy.  Isn't he the cutest?
I adore his sweater!!

I first saw Meileg's on Carol's blog, Art and Sand three years ago.  That same year I spied them in The Grand America toy store as we rounded the corner to my hubbies Christmas work party.  I must admit that I thought of running in and buying one right then.  However, I decided that I didn't need it and resisted.  Well, I finally caved and just had to have one of these cuties.

Hubby was a doll and asked me if I wanted the girl that matched.
I was a good girl and said, "next year".  :)

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!
hugs,
Jann

Jann, the little pixie is so cute. I only have a mini that hangs on my tree. I have the perfect little chair for one of these pixies, so I just may need to order one. I've never seen them in the stores here.
Thanks for sharing the beauty of the Grand America. The gingerbread house is amazing. Our Four Seasons always does a great gingerbread house. I need to go see it.
Merry Christmas!

It's magical to visit the Grand at Christmastime, huh? I'd love to attend an event there instead of just wandering through as a visitor. My daughters took me to Tea there a few years ago for a birthday present - it was so much fun! Love your purchases!

Hi Jann, thanks for leaving a comment on my blog!
Wow, the Grand America Hotel is really grand. I have a knack for fancy chandeliers and the ones you show are simply gorgeous.
Love your new Maileg! I have seen these type of dolls mostly on Danish and Swedish blogs and always thought that they are so charming!
Warm regards,
Christina

Well, everything does look just grand! I get such a kick out of going into a place that has put such effort into decorating for Christmas. It's what ignites the spirit.

Was last at Grand America for Christmas with our kids in Salt Lake about 10 years ago. It is a lovely hotel! And we had a great afternoon tea too!
