Vintage Seed Box Vignette

Hello my friends,
Easter arrived early this year and I have enjoyed my bunnies, chicks, and lambs immensely!
But, at the same time I was ready to put them away and move on to decorating with garden goodies.

I have such a weakness for anything gardened themed.  This vintage seed box is one of my favorite treasures!  I bought it from my niece a few years ago.
Look at that graphic design!  Love, love!!
Being time worn only adds to it's beauty.

I remember going with my mother to the Carpenter Seed Company when I was a girl.

This box is so large that it's hard finding a place to display it.  I used it on my table once, but I felt like it took up the entire table. I also displayed it on my
fireplace hearth one fall.

This year I decided to use it on my chippy table in the living room.
I absolutely love it here!

A trip out to the shed and I had plenty of items to style it.

I brought in a couple of my old watering cans.  One got filled with two small cabbages and the other is growing carrots.  :)

The can still had dirt in it from last year.  I literally just stuck the carrots into that dirt.
I am lucky enough to have not one, but two vintage seed boxes.

This one is small.  I bought it at an antique store in Orange, CA for $20 a couple years ago.
When I opened it up it was full of seeds that I had been storing in it.  Some I will plant this coming May.  Others are vintage and too cute to open.  (wink)

I have 5 funeral baskets hanging on the wall in my shed.  I brought one in and filled it with some vintage garden tools and a plant sign.
I also added a few clay pots.

Funeral baskets hold a soft spot in my heart.  My mom use to fill them with flowers from our garden and place them on our
family graves.
I also added a jar filled with seed packets and a pot of faux carrots.

This photo shows the entire table.  I've already moved the banner somewhere else.  It just was too cute for this vignette.  The birdcages found a new home as well.  Yup, always decorating!
I have a love for gardening!  It really is therapy for me.  I saw this t-shirt at Magnolia and just had to have it.

Getting my hands dirty makes me ever so happy!
I know it does for many of you as well.  That's why two of my garden loving friends, Stacey from Poofing the Pillows, Joyce from At Home with Jemma, and myself will be hosting a monthly garden link party.  It will be the last Friday of every month.  The first one will be Friday, April 27th.
Get snapping those garden photos!  :)
I will be sharing with these fun parties:

Oh I love your garden vignette, it looks terrific. Love find old seed packets.

I also have a very soft spot for gardening. I can't knee anymore due to bad knee, so I putter around in pots. Love getting my hands in the dirt.

Great post, thanks so much for sharing.

I don't know what I love more, the seed boxes or packets! I am not a gardener, but I do love the "stuff" especially if it's old!!

Let the gardening fun begin . . . it's still cold here but I have been planting some shrubs and a lilac bush, like I need another one of those, Ha-Ha, but yes I do! Your seed boxes are treasures. You find the best things when you go traveling. Thanks for sharing and happy gardening.

Jann, what a fun new linky party. I'll put it on my calendar. I've been busy working in the garden. Need to get some ideas together to share. Love your old seed box and the watering cans.

Every year I think I mention how envious I am of your seed boxes. I've never found one to buy that I could afford! So, I finally found an old wooden box and decoupaged garden ephemera on the inside cover. My mother worked for a seed company in the 1940s, and I still remember fondly the seed smell of her office. Alas, I'm definitely not a gardener ---- don't like getting my hands dirty; but I enjoy my husband's efforts. You are also always an inspiration!!

Your chippy table is the perfect backdrop for your seed boxes. Love how you styled this vintage looking vignette. I hope to join in your garden link party at the end of May, once we are past all the snow and rain here!

What treasures the seed boxes are to have and brings back nice memories of going there. The aging makes the boxes that much better. Not even thinking about gardening here yet. Snowed again Monday, 4 inches. Spring will not arrive in NJ. We are anxiously waiting.

Love the addition of the watering cand.

Have a super day

What fun displays! I have an old orange crate that was in my parents garage since the early 1970’s that I brought home. I’ll have to play with it too!

I love every single thing about this!! That box is amazing AND I love the seed box! I have a few old wooden boxes and I might try to recreate that! The funeral basket is SO cool -- I guess I didn't realize there was such a thing but now that I see it, I'm sure I've seen them before and not really known what type of basket they were. Love love love this vignette!!
