Driving the Mirror Lake Highway

Hello my friends, a couple of weeks ago I just had the feeling that I needed to get away.

I'd had two surgeries in just a couple of weeks and I had done a lot of sitting and lying around.  Sitting at home all I could see was all the things that needed to be done, but that I shouldn't be doing.

I sat to the point that I was experiencing numb bum.  :)

So, in the words of the famous Rolling Stones. I

GOTTA GET AWAY,

GOTTA, GOTTA, GOTTA,  GET AWAY, GOT TO GET AWAY!

About an hour from our home is the beautiful Mirror Lake Highway.

We drove it and ended up in Evanston, WY for the night.  I shared that post in A Walk About Wyoming.

Today I wanted to show you the beauty we saw along the way.

Hubby and I are not the best at taking selfies.  I thought this one was at least half way decent.

A stop off at Provo River Falls is a must.  It's just off the highway and doesn't require hiking to get to it.  It's a double water fall.  The large one is in the background of our selfie.

This is the smaller one.

The water is moving very swiftly, but sometimes people will be sitting on the rocks dipping their toes.

I noticed the unique pine cones in this tree.  Isn't it amazing what we see if we take time to look up?

From there it was back into the car.  We've visited Mirror Lake quite a few times, so we decided to explore some new places.

We took a detour off the highway that took us to Trial Lake.  It was beautiful.  We saw a few people fishing.  One man pulled one in while we were there.

Back down the road and we noticed a sign for a short 1/2 mile hike to Haystack Lake.  I knew that I shouldn't over exert, so that would be perfect!

Before heading up the trail we noticed an open area with logs to sit on.  We stopped and had a picnic lunch.

The wildflowers were beautiful!  It was hard to capture it in photos.

This large giant pine tree seemed to be standing guard over the twins.  Nothing quite like a beautiful ray of sunshine!

I love finding little tokens of nature along the trail.

This was our first sight of Haystack Lake.

It really was a beautiful sight to see!  Just something about enjoying the beauty of God's creations that rejuvenates me.

As we went to head back down the trail, hubby noticed on his GPS that there was another Lake just down the hill.  He could tell that instead of doubling back we could go see it and then head back to the main road another way.

I'm so glad we did, because it turned to be my favorite lake.

Beth Lake,
I love the reflection of the pines in the water.

And Lily pads, an added bonus!

The buds were not fully open, but I could imagine their beauty.

Hiking back to the main road I saw two things that made me smile.

One was this old water pump,

and a sticker someone left on a pole.

What a way to brighten ones day!!

Having bouts with infection, after my mastectomy last August, I had to have my expanders removed.  So now I truly am a Boobless Boob.  But I have to tell myself, that right now, boobs aren't important.  I have no babies to feed!  :)  And yes, in someone's eyes, I am beautiful!

hugs,

Ah Jann. I loved the whole tour of your jaunt through the beautiful Wyomings roadside trail. The ending was the best. God brought you there, just to remind you. ;)

You are beautiful! Thank God we don’t let our boobs define us. Your hike looks wonderful. I wonder why that pump was out there? Hugs,

Jann, what a wonderful way to rejuvenate and feel very alive and well! I'm glad you're riding yourself of the expanders so you can truly heal. You tried, and certainly have the right to be disappointed, but I look forward to the day when you can say you feel like your new self again, without complications. It's been a rough year, but you've been a beautiful role model for anyone who may have to go through that journey.

First off---Boobs are overrated! lol It is not about how you look it is about who you are (under those boobs) that is really important. That being said, I know it must make you feel 'different' and like you aren't 'whole' somehow. Don't you dare do that to yourself. You have way too much to give away to feel that you are 'less than' on any level.

now- Your trip was marvelous!!! You got some great pictures and I really love the wild flowers that are scattered all over the place. My SIL did that on her 5 acre farm and there were wildflowers wherever you looked. Just gorgeous.

I hope you have a wonderful upcoming week. xo Diana

Nope . . . Boobs aren’t important. Being able to spend time with your hubby in such a beautiful area . . . Now that’s important. Stay strong!!!

Jann, you are beautiful for sure! I love your outlook and your sense of humor even in the midst of bad things. Praying that the infection has healed. The pictures are wonderful and you done quite well with that selfie. I cannot do a good selfie and not even with a selfie stick that I hate! LOL! Enjoyed the pictures. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
