Where Bloggers Create. . .Sewing Room or Play Room?

Hello my friends,
every year I look forward to Karen's party where us bloggers share our creative spaces.

There are always so many fabulous spaces and ideas to see at this party.  By the end, your head will be spinning!  :)

I have shared my Craft Room a few times, so I thought this year I would share my sewing room.

(collection of children's irons and sewing machines)

I must admit, I'm not sure if it's my sewing room, or my playroom. (wink)
I am just a kid at heart and have a weakness for old toys.  I have had a few in this room for quite some time, but the other day I brought in some more that were previously in our bonus room.  That's where our grands hang out and play.

This little stove has seen better days, but it stole my heart when I spied it at a vintage flea.

The sweet button bouquet was a gift from a friend.

I recently scored these fabulous spools of thread at a thrift.  The large ones were $.75 and the small $.25

I love how the one has an old price tag on it!

This cute high chair is my latest found toy.  I love the chippy blue paint.  The little teddy bear was a Mothers Day gift from one of my grands years ago.  Have to hang on to that!

A little crib is doing double duty holding pieces for my
hexie quilt and looking cute all the while.

The hexies will be added to this one draped over my sewing basket.  A dolls playpen is great for holding the fabric for an online quilt called the "splendid sampler" I joined.  The finished blocks sit in a baggie on top.

As you can see, it's not all just fun and games.  I do have some baskets with actual sewing items.  :)

My pressing station.  This room is small.  It's just off of our master suite.  On the house plans it is called nursery/library.  So now it is sewing/playroom.  lol!

I like having some of my quilts on display.

A wonky chandy made from garden edging holds some old sewing notions.

Not all of the décor is kiddie themed.  I can act like an adult, (when I have too)  ha, ha!

This little cabinet is great for holding scraps.

old suitcases do double duty as well.  Pretty, yet functional.

I modge podged fabric onto my mannequin a few years ago and made her a girly skirt and apron.

On the other side of the room I have my pincushion collection and a few aprons on display.

And yes, I do sew.  (every now and then)  Really, I don't get in there much once spring hits.  Come fall, I'm back in the
mood to sew.

Maybe then I will get to some of my "unfinished projects".

Honestly, I can't tell you how long this basket quilt has been draped over my chair.  The little banner reminds me that I need to 'SEW'!

Aha, look what is hidden behind closed doors.  Small space, so I try to keep it organized.

This shoe rack is great for holding trims and such.

There you have it, my place to play and sew every now and then.
Can't wait to see yours!  Yup, I like my head to spin.

hugs,
Jann

I will be also sharing with these fun parties:

All very cute little vignettes. A very pretty room. I love my room but it is mass storage of my tea wares too so not very pretty - just organized.

Ooh Jann, I just love your playful and fun spirit, and it certainly shows up so well in your sewing room. Your love of all things vintage is so YOU, which I so admire. Even though your room has so many fun toys and items, it is so organized. Seeing all your quilts was such an inspiration. I love the one with the rick rack trim that's hanging on the wall. Thanks for giving us a peek of where you create!

Jann,
What an amazing sewing (play) room, dear friend!
I love seeing all the vintage toys!
As a child, my sister and I had a pink stove similar to yours.
Also, a pink refrigerator. I had a doll high chair in blue, too!
Love seeing the quilts within your room, as well!
Instead of sewing, I make cards.
While you use fabric, I use paper to create.
Thank you for sharing Where You Create with us!
Fondly,
Pat

Who wants to act like an adult, anyway!! I am in love with your sewing room, Jann. It is filled from floor to the rafters with the prettiest pretties! Those children sewing machines are adorable, as are those irons. Love those irons. Your stove is a treasure. Come to think of it your sewing room is an Aladdin's cave, overfilling with glorious treasures. Can I come and play in there.....please, pretty please. =)

Hi Jann,
What a cheerful and beautiful space to Sew. It is so pretty. I love all of the vintage goodies and would so like to come across some of those adorable toy sewing machines. My daughter and I seem to be getting a collection between us of vintage (full size) machines, but I have yet to come across any of the toys in my rambling. I also simply adore your sewing machine cover. It fits perfectly into your space.

I wish Gaia and I were joining in Where Bloggers Create this year, but since we can't, we will enjoy everyone else's.

Awesome sewing Room. Thank you for the tour!
All the best,
Gwen

Thanks for sharing so many great pictures of your wonderful, wonderful sewing room! I love your color scheme and all your treasures! Trying not to be a "hoarder," (I'm teased about this), I have gotten rid of so many similar things, like that yellow sewing basket, which I had in a rose color. You have given me encouragement to collect and display those things I love. It's so nice to stop by for a visit!

I love your sewing room! I'm envious. It is so cute. All I have is a closet with bifold doors where my sewing machine is (built in) and my sewing stuff.

My friend and I went in together and bought a long arm quilting machine -- that is set up in her house! So, I"m learning how to quilt on that!

Totally charming...and I remember some of those old toys---they are from early in my childhood, especially the one doll bed. My great-aunt had others in her attic where we all played at family gatherings. lots of fun stuff here...and a great environment for getting sewing done too. LOVE IT, thank you for sharing! Sandi

I love both your craft and sewing rooms! I went back and peeked at your craft room, which I visited last year, but enjoyed again and then I looked at this adorable sewing room. You are blessed to have multiple spaces and I love how you used so much vintage stuff to decorate, it is so much fun to look at all your goodies. Thanks for sharing both spaces.

How absolutely delightful. I love all the vintage toys. They add so much to the room. And yes, I agree that I sew a lot more in the fall and winter. Summer, not so much. And I think I have WIPs to do also...more than I want to acknowledge. I like the shoe holder hanging on the closet door. I have one of clear plastic that I use for my jewelry and scarfs among other things. I may have to purchase one for my studio. Thanks for sharing your studio.

I enjoyed visiting your creative space. I retired last summer and an currently trying to find studio space in my new digs....a 31 foot camper that I will be traveling in for the next few years at least. I loved your shoe organizer used as storage space for crafty supplies. I hope you don't mind but I plan to borrow that idea for the new home.

What a delight to see what YOU have created.......you are an amazing and inspiring individual. Everything is so useful and cute vintage items for storing!! I seen a yellow sewing basket, with a design on top and wicker bottom. I HAVE that same sewing box. It is VERY old. It was my Moms. I am 69 yrs. and she has been passed for 24 yrs. I'm not sure when she got it or how old it is. Do you have any idea's about the age or cost of it?? Thank you, if you can help me in advance?
