A Thrift Find and a Give Away Win. . .

Last Thursday I had a dentist appointment.   I decided to leave a little early and go by our local thrift shop.

Boy am I glad that I did!

In the collectors case I spied something that I have been loving on a few blogs for quite some time.  A set of red transferware dishes.

I already had just a couple of pieces, but seeing this set for $20 was almost too good to be true.

It was a pretty good sized set of just plates.  I thought it was kind of funny that there were no teacups.  The people who donated these must have wanted them.

I quickly washed them up and googled to find out a little about my new treasure.  I found that each dinner plate runs about $10.  Which is what I thought.  whoo-hoo did I score!

There were only three large plates, but plenty of smaller ones.

I put them on my living room shelf and plan on adding a few Christmas goodies nestled in amongst them soon.  There were actually 7 more small plates.  A few of them were chipped or badly stained.

I left a couple of my white teapots.  Not vintage, but sweet finds from Ross for $6.99

Look at my darling apron I won from Roxy at Living From Glory to Glory.

IMG_2865

I planned on modeling it for you, but weird things are going on with this body lately. lol!

Yesterday I woke up with a sore eye and today it is all swollen.  A sty, darn it!  I guess I shouldn’t have been peeing in the road.  Hee-hee!  That’s what my family always said caused stys.

My living room couch will have to do the modeling for me. Perfect colors I might add.

Isn’t the fabric so cute?  Handmade with love from Roxy!

Wow .... you certainly did score big time!!!! Good for you.
And that apron is absolutely lovely. My problem is that I wouldn't want to wear it for fear of getting it dirty LOL
Have a fun weekend!

I was reading this post with my Monday morning coffee thinking, "Oh no fair, you DI rat..." and then, I hit this line "I planned on modeling it for you, but weird things are going on with this body lately. lol!" and spit coffee on the keyboard because gosh, I feel the same way. Then, I got to the part about you peeing in the road... lol
Thanks for the Monday morning laugh~!
*Your DI is bigger than my DI and that's just unfair!*
Have a Wonderful Week~!!!

Great deal on lovely plates, Jann. Peeing in the road - ha ha! Never heard that. I did hear recently that if you rub gold (like a gold ring) on the sty that makes it go away. Don't know if it works. Feel better - Dawn @ We Call It Junkin.com

Usually the cups are the first to break which is probably why there aren't any to go with your plates. I too collect red transferware, and if you find them, grab them. Love the way you displayed them.
