Valentine Picnic Tablescape

Hello my friends, I found a little treasure this week and I couldn't wait to play with it.

You all know how much I love plaid and when I spied this portable folding picnic table I was smitten.

It became my inspiration for a Valentine picnic tablescape.

I thought I might use it opened up, but decided it was too big for the center of the table.  I wish I would have snapped a photo of it for you to see.
Guess you'll just have to wait until summer when I use it outdoors.  :)

I may be using a portable plaid picnic table, but a Valentines picnic deserves a bit of fanciness, don't you agree?

I used my white linen ruffled tablecloth

And placed my pretty red striped runner, gifted to me by my dear friend, Amanda down the center.

I used the chalkboard chargers I bought at Target and wrote the word love in four different languages.

I layered assorted black and white dishes.
It's all about the layering, right? (wink)

I placed my two new heart bowls from Target on top of a small black cake stand and sat it on the plaid picnic table.

A couple of thrift find bottles (anything with a red lid comes home with me), filled with candy add a little Valentines fun.
If this were a 'real' picnic you could fill one with soup and the other with salad.

I tucked a dish towel that I have added a polka dot border inside of a white wicker picnic basket and topped it with my red checkered S&P shakers.

After all, what's a picnic without ants?  :)

For a touch of whimsy I added a crochet apron to the chandy.

The ruby red glasses are vintage, but the pitcher is a reproduction I found years ago at T.J. Maxx.

A mixture of plaid, stripes, polka dots, and florals.

What can I say, they just make me happy!

How about you, do you love mixing patterns?

hugs,
Jann

Dear Jann:
I just saw one of those at an antique mall in Denver. Everything in the booth is red plaid. It is also a pricey booth. Your tablesetting is darling!

HA, HA, CUTE! If you people keep it up, I will have to do something for Valentine's Day---maybe just a banner for the Grand!

Love your mix---patterns and colors, Thanks for the inspiration, Sandi

I love your tablescape. I have an area in my kitchen that I plan to do a similar thing with. I will change it with the seasons/special occasions

Too, too cute. I am also a plaid-a-holic and it's a good thing you're not in Texas. We might have to duke it out over red-topped jars because here they all come home with ME!

I love all your Valentine happiness.

I spotted some red & white transfer ware dishes at T J Maxx last week and now I'm kicking myself that I didn't buy them. I think I might have to look in today to see if they are still there so I can do a pretty red & white table.

I love your Valentine vignette, Jann! It's so pretty, and you gave me some wonderful ideas. Sorry I missed linking up to 'share your cup"--I did lots of busy grandparent duty this week, as my son and his family moved to a new house. It kept me offline a few days.

It's a fabulous mix. I love it. What a treasure you got!
I didn't read your link list. Did you know there is a Valentines Day party going on. I'm not sure where but I put the button my sidebar if you want to come over and check it out.
Have a great day.

I love mixing patterns and layering. Love that plaid and I am swooning over the ruffled table cloth! Very cute setting and the ants were a cute touch although my youngest wouldn't think so. He sat on an ant hill once and never forgot it. Poor boy! Thanks for sharing and enjoy your day, Jann.

Blessings,
Sandi
