Embracing Winter

Hello my friends,
what's the weather like in your neck of the woods?

It's been very cold here lately, but it finally warmed up a little today.

Since Christmas we have had quite an accumulation of snow.

It's so deep in our backyard that our son and daughter in law brought their boys up to sled down the hill.

She snapped this precious photo.

I must admit it is very pretty, but right about now is when I start planning for Spring.

Yup, Spring fever comes early for me.

Knowing how badly we needed this snow I am doing my best to embrace Winter.

My kitchen table is the first thing I change once a holiday is over.

I left the handmade crochet table cloth I already had on the table and added my cute red snowflake mat.  I purchased it at Joanne's after Christmas a few years ago.

I'm leaving some of my plaid décor out until I decorate for Valentines.  This sweet snow globe was a gift from a dear blog friend, Ann Marie from Musings of a Vintage Junkie.

Look at that cute little snow bunny she tucked inside.

I love polka dots and any excuse to display them is alright by me.  They seemed to just work.

I sprayed the pinecones that I had used for my Christmas table white to give them more of a 'winter' feel.

I like a simple tablescape for the month of January.  I actually enjoy that look of less after Christmas is put away.
Around here, believe me it doesn't last long!  lol!

All three of the white dishes with pinecones were found at thrift shops.  I picked up the two pinecone napkin holders at a yard sale while in New England.  Even though there were only two, I thought they were cute.

Again, wanting a simpler look I hung only three snowflakes from the chandy.

Most of my paper whites were blooming for Christmas.  I planted this one later so I could enjoy some seasonal blooms a little bit longer.

Happy Winter Wishes!
hugs,
Jann

I love seeing the little ones sledding, Jann! They are so cute.
Snowflakes and pinecones, definitely going to be around for several months here.

As always, everything is so cute. And, I love your polka dot flatware - I have a set too.

I remember in January of 2014, we went skiing in Utah and people complained about the lack of snow. For Californians, it seemed like there was a lot, but I think that summer you went into drought conditions.

We are expecting rain, and lots of it, this week and I am so happy. I am going to use the time wisely. All of my Christmas stuff is in the attic, but nothing is put away. I hate to be in the attic on a hot day, but I don't mind it on rainy days.

How cute is that with the kids on the sled! We have one similar to that from when our kids were little still being stored for the eventual use by some young ones again! I don't remember seeing snow at your home on your blog before. Looks like you got a good 8 to 12 inches! We finally have snow here and now it feels/looks more normal for us. Your chandi and table look cute!

Woke up to lots of snow here this morning. I am already dreading driving in it but I love how it looks and have been hoping for some. How sweet to have your grandkids sled in your yard...they are cuties. I love your kitchen table...thanks so much for showing the globe. I mostly decorate for winter at Christmas so I can just leave things up but I do have some Christmas to still put away! Snowflakes and pine cones are my favorite to decorate with.

Oh my gosh, that table vignette is adorable! I have put everything Christmas away, and things are looking pretty bare in my home. We still are having mild weather (a dusting of snow might occur today), and my daffodils are coming up! I'm definitely thinking spring already, and ready to roll up the winter rug in the sunroom! Enjoy your snow-filled days, Jann!

Cute pic of your grandsons sledding! :) We got a bit of snow and freezing rain yesterday in Portland. I was up on Mt. Hood skiing and we spent nearly 7 hours trying to get home (normally a 2 hour drive) Happy New year to you and your family!

Hi Jann, oh your little grands faces look just like mine do when they are out enjoying the snow. We have a huge hill over at the church house about 1/2 block away and that's where I take the chill-ens when they need to run off some of the energy that I don't have. lol I love the snow and enjoy the change of the seasons, each one is so precious in it's very own way. Have a wonderful day! You can use the pic on my blog.

We had a little snow yesterday, mostly gone now, but the roads are very icy so all schools closed, which means no work today. Yesterday when I drove to the store only 2 miles from me to return videos, it was raining lightly and it froze so fast on the windshield that I could not see! Had to pull over and scrape the windshield! The wipers were no help at all. I had never seen that before and it was scary! Good to see the kids having fun!

Normally I take it all down even though it makes me a little sad but this year I decided to leave some of it up. I removed the Christmas greenery and lights, the trees and some of the more sparkly things and I am quite pleased with the results.

I get Spring fever about Nov 30th so you are in good company. It is snowing here now and more storms lined up ready to come dump their bounty too. Sigh...

So that's where all the snow went! I'm a fan of polkadots too! We always wear polkadots on New Year's Day because they signify prosperity ($$$) for the new year!

Well - we do not have snow! We would like some snow - especially since it bitter cold. The fun of snow helps the temps be more palatable. Enjoyed your pictures!

Looking at these beautiful and fun photos - it's like a fantasy for me :)

It's always fun for me to see the amount of snow some people get! I love your idea to have a winter decoration... I may be guilty of decorating with snwoflakes as well, since we don't have real ones!
