A Little Tweaking for a 'Winter' Mantle

Hello my friends,
Every year after Christmas I totally change my living room, family room, and basement mantles; only to turn around and redecorate them (except for the basement) for Valentines in just a few weeks.

This year I decided to save myself some work.
Besides, I wasn't tired of my plaid quite yet.  :)

I got looking at my family room mantle, and I could tell with very little tweaking it could easily be ready for winter.

Here is the before:
(funny thing is, I never even shared it on my blog in Dec.  However, I did share it
 on fb and Instagram)

I removed anything that had jingle bells and added a few snowflakes.

A large birch one took center stage.

This whimsical mouse was part of my Christmas gift from a club that I am a member of.  He has plaiditude and had to be added to the mantle!

I removed the little 'believe' pillow from the snowshoes and tucked  an extra plaid blanket into the wire basket.

The snowman was more of my club gift.  I traded him for the white deer, although it found a place in the living room for winter.

A few simple changes and I now have a winter mantle with a 'woodsy' feel.

and again the before:
(not the best photo, taken with my phone)

And baby, it's cold outside; so the fireplace has been on a lot lately.

Warm Winter Wishes,
Jann

I love your mantle, transitioned from Christmas to winter! I have a vintage sled like yours. Those are perfect for leaving out until early spring! Red plaid has always been a fave of mine, too.
Happy New Year, Jann!

I have always giggled at the word "tweaked".
In your case it's creative and stylish. My "tweaking" is more like dusting the mantle.
You have great taste and lots of talent.

I love your mantel's winter decor. Your old snowshoes and sled are wonderful! I basically did the same thing with my decorations around the living/dining room - left them much the same as they were already of a wintery theme. It made for easy decorating until Valentine's Day rolls around. Have a great week Jann.

Very nice winter mantel. Now I wish I hadn't taken our tree down today. I could have put the ornaments away and still had a tree with little white lights and had a winter theme. sigh. Aren't fireplaces wonderful! Have a cozy week.

Love the snowflake!! I put all my snowflakes and other winter stuff away....as we are having a warm winter here in Ohio. We have only had a dusting of snow here.😕 Maybe we will get some later this month or in Febuary.

Omg!!!! I absolutely loooooove it!!! I am going to copy you if I can!!! Just perfect!!! I have all the components except for the ribbon garland!!! Excellent job!! This year I did something similar ! I used a tartan throw and draped it across the mantle and in the center I propped a large wood gate and hung mittens and flanked each side with rusty lanterns !! I used a pine cone garland I found at target too, great job! Love it!

Love your winter mantle with all of that plaid goodness on it!! That is the decorating style I am dreaming of for my next home! Storing up stuff for it now. I thought of you when I bought a vintage plaid throw that I am keeping and displaying in my dining room right now. I still have a little Christmas décor up that I am working on getting put away but most of my decorating was for winter to begin with.
